This is a page for the young people of Argyll and Bute so they can keep in touch with their members of the scottish youth parliament.

Each Parliament constituency has two young people to represent their youth in the Scottish Youth Parliament, thanks to Argyll and Bute Youth Forum we, Kim and Eilidh, are the MSYPs for Argyll and Bute. However, we do not go to meetings with the SYP to put across our view, we go to put across YOUR view. This means you need to tell us what your view is and that is why this bebo page exists. Please leave us comments about what you want, tell us your opinions and try and get involved!

Jo Ellis is the MSYP for Helensburgh and Lomond, however, she is the only one for her area so we have decided to work as a team! photos of her in action on the way!

  • Knife Crime!!!

    At the November sitting for the SYP, the main topic of discussion will be knife crime. Here is a small bit of blurb about knives...

    In Scotland the longest you can be sent to prison for carrying a knife has gone up from two to four years. You now need to be 18 to buy a knife (apart from kitchen cutlery) and shops that sell them need to have a licence. It’s now also illegal for a shop to sell a sword in Scotland.

    In 2005/06, the last year where figures are available, almost 4,000 people were arrested and charged for carrying a weapon in Scotland. Since then, anyone caught with a knife has to remain in police custody until they appear in court.

    THAT BIT MAY SEEM BORING AND NOT AT ALL RELEVENT TO YOU... unless you have been involved with such a crime, either by being the criminal or the victim. Please leave your views on knife crime. Let us know if you have been victim to it. Whether you think it actually exists in Argyll and Bute. GIVE US YOUR OPINIONS ON IT!!!

  • Starting a debate about transport!

    Hello Argyll and Bute!

    We would like to know what you feel strongly about. We cannot act apon your opinions if you do not tell us what they are! So here is something to start with,

    Transport!

    I know that all Young people have something to say about the transport in this constituency, whether it is about the prices, the times, the links, the quality of the transport provided or even the quality of the roads.

    What do you think is the biggest problem, why and how can this be solved? over to you now!
