- Directed by Roger Powdrell, Con Anima is the college choir of St. Patrick's College, Wellington. They have attended the national finale 11 times, winning the inaugural "Platinum" prize for best NZ secondary schools choir in 2004. We have also picked up numerous Gold and Silver awards.
They have been invited to sing in Europe many times, yet have never taken up these offers. In 2006 Con Anima toured Sydney, Australia, with the Chamber Choir, Barbershop Quartet & Chorus and Choir.
The choir has released three CDs:
"Through the Years" - Comprises of songs sung by the choir between 1998 and 2003.
"Con Anima Wins Gold, Goes Platinum" - Recording of the award winning performances at the National Final in Dunedin August 2004.
"Deep River" - Songs from 2005-2006, pieces from combined Choir "Patchwork," Con Anima and Seraphim, and from the McDonald's Choral competition in Sydney, Australia.

Wellington Big Sing - Adjudicators Report
Weep O Mine Eyes -
You captured the mood of this madrigal right from the beginning, with controlled phrasing and a well blended sound. Intonation was mostly very good although the top tenors had a tendency to 'slide-off' some of the long notes near the beginning. Your performance displayed an awareness of musical style and some moments of nice dynamic control.
Stars I Shall Find -
Another captivating beginning. Even when singing softly it is important to keep the focus in the sound and not let in a breathy sound. There was some straining for the top notes, particularly in phrases that begin with a rising 5th. This can be fixed by preparing for the whole phrase when you breathe, not just the first note. Very good dynamic control and beautiful phrasing.
The Chameleon -
An appropriate relaxed feeling with great rhythmic freedom. Basses need to keep crisp rhythm all the way through. I like the mellow sound of this choir but would also like to hear something that explores the brighter end of your sound spectrum. Lovely performance, thank you.0 Comments 166 days

Wellington YSIH Barbershop Contest
Well done to Bluetones who placed 2nd in the Quartet Contest, and The Saints who placed 3rd. The scoresheets were very encouraging, especially with The Saints scoring an 86 for singing. The journey to nationals will begin in mid-July..0 Comments 181 days
