- Slipknot is an American heavy metal band from Des Moines, Iowa, formed in 1995. Slipknot consists of nine members, the current band members are Sid Wilson, Joey Jordison, Paul Gray, Chris Fehn, Jim Root, Craig Jones, Shawn Crahan, Mick Thomson, and Corey Taylor. Each member of the band wears a unique mask.
Slipknot formed in 1995 and underwent several line-up changes following the independent release of their first demo Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. in 1996. That album featured original lead vocalist, Anders Colsefini. Their self-titled, major label debut, Slipknot, was released in 1999, featuring permanent new lead vocalist, Corey Taylor, and was followed by Iowa in 2001 and Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) in 2004. On August 25, 2008, the band returned to release their fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 charts. The band has released three DVDs, including Disasterpieces, which was certified quadruple-platinum in the United States.

The ground-breaking, Grammy Award-winning, Des Moines nine-piece, SLIPKNOT have announced their first UK tour in over three years.
The tour rolls into the UK in December in support of SLIPKNOT’s fourth studio album, ‘All Hope Is Gone, which hits stores this coming Monday 25th August. Album reviews so far have been stellar across-the-board, with the likes of Q Magazine, FHM, The Observer Music Monthly and Metro all proclaiming the album a success. With around 10 million album sales racked up globally, SLIPKNOT transcend their genre and are set to land solid chart positions across the world next week for ‘All Hope Is Gone’.
Meanwhile, over in the US, SLIPKNOT have been nominated for an MTV Award at September’s VMA’s. The nod sees the band’s current ‘Psychosocial’ video line up against the likes of the Foo Fighters and Fall Out Boy in the ‘Best Rock Video’ category. The band also recently completed a headline stint on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour in the US, that saw them pulling in crowds of around 18,000 a night.
SLIPKNOT are now looking forward to bringing their live show to the UK this December. The UK tour dates line up as follows:

Special guests on the tour are Roadrunner Records labelmates MACHINE HEAD, who are still riding the wave of success for their award-winning album, ‘The Blackening’. Having picked up numerous ‘Album of the Year’ awards at metal and hard rock press for the release, Roadrunner Records will release a special edition of the album on 13th October. Included in the package will be a second disc of 13 extra audio tracks, plus an additional DVD of live and behind-the-scenes footage.

ALL HOPE IS GONE
Slipknot, the Grammy Award winning hard rock machine from Des Moines, IA is back. The band will release its fourth album, All Hope is Gone, on Roadrunner Records on August 26, 2008. The album was recorded this spring in Slipknot's home state and is co-produced by the band and Dave Fortman.
"The nine" will spend their summer laying waste to arenas in North America as they headline the first annual Rock Star Energy Mayhem Festival. As Slipknot's first tour in three years, these dates are sure to bring the band's legion of diehard fans, affectionately dubbed "maggots," out in full force.
All Hope is Gone is more of a statement than a record. Corey Taylor comments, "Every album we have made is a statement about that space in time. I think this era is the most mature, most beautiful and the most powerful. We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men. I think it's the best thing I've ever made. And I challenge anyone to prove me wrong."
The album promises to blend elements of 2004's Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and 2001's Iowa, while adding a perspective, freshness and depth that only three years apart can bring. The first single "Psychosocial" will be delivered to radio on June 30 and will be available digitally on July 1. A complete track listing will be announced shortly.
Slipknot is the ever-evolving definitive voice in hard rock music. They are pioneers of an alternative metal scene, where scarring riffs and thunderous percussion are punctuated by vocals, which seamlessly shift from brutal to melodic within a breath. The band's previous studio albums, Slipknot, Iowa, Vol.3
The Subliminal Verses) have all been certified platinum or better, as have their DVDs, Welcome to Our Neighborhood, Disasterpiece and Voliminal: Inside the Nine. The double live 9.0: Live holds a gold certification.
