Malachai Darkblade's crystal was a naturally-formed crystal that had forged a bond with Darkblade, resonating with him and his relationship with the Force. As a result, the crystal acquired from Darkblade, and had the ability to augment his powers. In the wake of the Ragni War, Malachai Darkblade Darkblade—an exile from the Jedi Order due to his participation in the Clone Wars—found the crystal formation within a Force-sensitive crystal cave located on the Outer Rim world of Dantooine during his search for Ashla Knight Dav Nov Mel. The use of the crystal as a lightsaber focus ensured that the weapon could only be used by Darkblade, as well as enhancing the other components and subsidiary crystals found in the lightsaber.
