- We originally set this page up for anyone who was at HMS Raleigh or was about to start but over the last 12 months it has attracted a lot of people who just wanted an insight into the life of a Matelot and what life at Raleigh and in the Navy is really like. I'm sure the other members of the group will agree that life in the Navy offers some amazing opportunities and a lifestyle that is incomparable to any civillian job. At the same time you only get out what you put in and the rewards can be amazing. I hope you all enjoy your time at HMS Raleigh, it is a great experience and you'll never forget the day you stand on the parade ground with an SA80 in your hand feeling ten feet tall as you pass out into the Royal Navy.

most stupid thing i done was leave the royal navy whoevers reading this take my advice it may seem hard at raleigh but its onli 9 weeks training stick it out ul feel so much relief at the end of them long 9 weeks the collingwood or whatever comes next far more relaxing and easier and i couldnt stick it out as i was missing family members but as long as your ok they are to
