- Disgusting under any circumstances!
- Acceptable if it is for medical research- but not cosmetic.
- Acceptable, how else are they gonna make sure stuff is safe?
- I can understand why it is important- but I disagree with the treatment of the animals.
- Wouldn't there be better, solid results if tests were carried out on a human?

Have you turned anyone to be a veggie?

Roll up, roll up!
Righty-ho...
So, it seems to me that this page needs a total revamp! New skins, new blogs, new polls... more members...
I have also had an idea!
Well, people definitely seem to have a thing for these "perfection sites", where they put a pic of you in their albums, right? So, Meat Free shall have some albums like that of our own! Strictly for veggies/vegans though! If it's successful, we might launch a whole new page based around that idea! At the moment, the albums will be: 'Best Guys' and 'Best Girls'. If you want a picture put into either of those albums, COMMENT! Or upload a pic into the photo stream letting us know it's for the album! We'll run competitions, and maybe at the end of each month, someone can be the pages display picture...? I have to organize it more, but that's the rough outline of the idea! If you want to make any suggestions, comment! This page is, after all, here for you!
Peace and love x

PETA gone a little too far?
Skimming through the PETA website earlier today, I found a rather morbid advert of theirs... PETA coffin? Yeah, you can really buy one.
The article starts with: "Ever thought about how you might make your love of animals live on after you have gone to your grave? Well, now you can! PETA has teamed up with eco-friendly coffin maker The Old Pine Box to bring you what you never knew you always wanted: a PETA coffin!"
Is this a little too far? I mean, we all know everything has to die, but to commercialize it to this extent?
Sure, we're all proud vegetarians, but would you really want your tearful mourners gazing down at your eco-friendly coffin with "Told you I wouldn't be caught dead in fur" scrawled on the lid? A bit inappropriate, I think.
But what about you? Do you think it's a bit over the top, or do you think it's a brilliant idea?
Take a look and let us know!

Nine reasons to go (and stay) vegetarian.
1) Your health: prevent disease. Meat-eating has been linked with cancer, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, kidney stones, and many other devastating diseases. By eliminating meat from your diet you can take a crucial step towards a long life of health and happiness.
2) Increased energy and endurance: A vegetarian diet improves your stamina, concentration, and sense of well-being. In one study, athletes who switched to a vegetarian diet improved their endurance to almost 3 times as much as those who remained carnivorous.
3) Avoid toxic food contaminants: Flesh foods are loaded with dangerous poisons and contaminants such as hormones, herbicides and pesticides, and antibiotics. As these toxins are all fat-soluble, they concentrate in the fatty flesh of the animals. Not to mention the viruses, bacteria and parasites such as salmonella, trichinella and other worms, and toxoplasmosis parasites.
4) Humans are by design vegetarian: our flat teeth are perfect for grinding grains and vegetables, not for tearing apart animal flesh. Similarly, our hands are designed for gathering, not for flesh-ripping. Our saliva contains the enzyme alpha-amylase, the sole purpose of which is to digest the complex carbohydrates in plant foods. (This enzyme is not found in the saliva of carnivores.) Basically we have all the right apparatus to consume vegetarian products, and none of the right apparatus for flesh foods.
5) Care for the environment: by improperly using animals for food, we are eating ourselves off the planet. The raising of animals specifically to kill them and eat them has resulted in incredible waste and devastation of our precious resources. Just one example of the consequences is the fact that due to plundering our farmlands to fatten animals for slaughter, over 4 million acres of cropland are being lost to erosion in this country every year.
6) Help end world hunger: every day forty thousand children on this planet needlessly starve to death. According to the Department of Agriculture statistics, one acre of land can grow 20,000 pounds of potatoes. That same acre of land, when used to grow cattle feed, can produce less than 165 pounds of edible cow flesh.
7) Become a more peaceful person: when we consume animal flesh products we are necessarily at odds with nature and our fellow living beings. Consumption of flesh foods has been scientifically linked with violent and aggressive behavior.
Have compassion for animals: animals who are raised for slaughter needlessly experience incredible suffering throughout their life and death. Many people try not to think of the torturous experiences of the animal whose flesh ended up in their hamburger or on their dinner table. But if it is distasteful to think about, consider what it is like to experience it.
9) Vegetarianism is moral and ethical: give the devastating consequences of meat eating on an individual, social and ecological level, as thinking, caring beings we should choose vegetarianism. Many great philosophers such as Plato, Socrates, Leo Tolstoy, and George Bernard Shaw have taught the morality of vegetarianism.

Just dropping in to say hiiyaa!!! What's happening to all the veggie/vegan groups on bebo, nobody's writing to us any more? Most of the ones I've visited recently have had very few comments posted to them, including mine! Time for us to canvas for some new members, methinks? Jen. xx
Morning! well, thankyou girlies for continuing to advertise my anti-internet bullying group via your page. My members have gone up a lot, so I dunno if anyone from here has found us? Either way, sadly the trolling and bullying continues, they just won't let go! only this morning I found they had bombarded an anti-abortion site with abusive comments, and some of the child abuse related groups they have created, which thankfully have been deleted, defy belief. Our link contains useful information on keeping yourself safe online, as well as genuine government links etc about the dangers of internet trolling, and what the consequences can be for those partaking of it. Take care everyone, and stay safe! Jennie. xxx
