EXT. IRISH COUNTRYSIDE. DAY

The sun shines bright in the sky as the view of the Irish countrysides
fields and tree's stretches out over the horizon. PADDY sits
on a stone wall with his back to the beautiful view. He is
dressed in dirty cloths and is wearing a pair of
wellingtons. He remains sitting as he picks his ears with
his finger and removes it several seconds later to have a
look at the wax. He wipes his finger along his jumper to
clean his finger. As he does so, MIKEY notices Paddy, and
walks over to greet him. Mikey sits on the wall beside
Paddy.

MIKEY
How are ya goin Paddy?

PADDY
Evenin Mikey!

MIKEY
Jaysus, Migh'y weather today ain't
it?

PADDY
Aye, Thank God.

The two farmers sit silently for a moment.

MIKEY
I'm glad I saw ya Paddy

PADDY
Aye?

MIKEY
Meself and the brother are goin off
for the weekend, and I was just
thinkin to meself, that poor ole
Caithleen would be left in the
house on her own while were gone.

PADDY
Oh Caithleen, how is she?

MIKEY
Well thats what I was going to ask

Mikey leans over closer to Paddy.

MIKEY
Would it be possible for Caithleen,
to maybe stay at your place for the
weekend while were gone?

Paddy begins to start rapidly shaking his head in refusal

PADDY
Ah jaysus Mikey I couldn't, I
couldn't, I couldn't!

Mikey throws his arms in the air to retort.

MIKEY
Shur jaysus Paddy ya'll have to,
she can barely remember her own
name as it is!

Paddy eases off and looks sympathetically at Mikey.

PADDY
Has it gone that bad?

Mikey lowers his head to the ground.

MIKEY
The years havn't been good to her
like. She can barely look after
herself Paddy, ya do always have to
keep an eye on her.

Paddy nods his head in understanding.

MIKEY
She does walk into the walls, she
doesn't clean herself anymore, she
goes to the toilet on herself. I do
wake up in the middle of the night
to get a drink and she'd be asleep
on the kitchen floor Paddy.

The men sit on the wall in silence staring at the ground.

MIKEY
Shes lost all independence. The
poor oul bitch.

The men once again, sit in silence for a moment. Eventually Paddy
raises his head and looks at Mikey.

PADDY
But still Mikey like I couldn't
take her. The kids would be at her
like, pokin her, pullin her hair,
lockin her in the garage I can't, I can't,
I can't.

There is another silence. Mikey inches toward Paddy.
