- À propos de moi
- The Australian Pink Floyd Show was formed in Adelaide, South Australia in 1988, but weren't known as this until relocating to the UK. They were the first Pink Floyd tribute band to tour in the UK back in 1993, starting off with the first International Pink Floyd fan convention at Wembley convention centre. The event was run in conjunction with Brain Damage magazine.
HAVE THE AUSSIES EVER HAD ANY CONTACT WITH THE REAL FLOYD?
At the second PF fan convention in 1994, The Australian Pink Floyd met, and shared the billing with, Atom Heart Mother co-writer, Ron Geesin. David Gilmour and percussionist Gary Wallis attended an Australian Pink Floyd gig at The Fairfield Halls, Croydon UK in 1994.

Aussie Floyd History << Updated
When and where did TAPFS start?
The Australian Pink Floyd Show was formed in Adelaide, South Australia in 1988, but weren't known as this until relocating to the UK. (Read the 'History' on this website) They were the first Pink Floyd tribute band to tour in the UK back in 1993, starting off with the first International Pink Floyd fan convention at Wembley convention centre. The event was run in conjunction with 'Brain Damage' magazine.
Have the Aussies ever had any contact with the real Pink Floyd?
At the second PF fan convention in 1994, The Australian Pink Floyd met, and shared the billing with, 'Atom Heart Mother' co-writer, Ron Geesin. David Gilmour and percussionist Gary Wallis attended an Australian Pink Floyd gig at The Fairfield Halls, Croydon UK in 1994. They enjoyed the show and a chat with the Aussies afterwards, and invited them to the end of 'The Division Bell Tour' party.
Is it true that they went backstage at Earls Court?
The Australian Pink Floyd Show attended The Division Bell tour party at Earls Court on October the 23rd 1994. They met all the members of Pink Floyd, and even got a close up look at the stage!
Did they really play at David Gilmours birthday?
The Aussie Floyd received the ultimate invitation in 1996, becoming the only Floyd tribute band to be asked to perform for a member of Pink Floyd, namely David Gilmour's 50th birthday celebrations in London At DG's 50th birthday party, The Australian Pink Floyd worked with many of the crew members who had been on The Division Bell world tour. As Britannia Row supplied the production for the event, much of the sound and lighting equipment was the exact same gear that had been used at Earl's Court.
Have they ever played with Pink Floyd?
At DG's birthday, the TAPFS were joined on stage by Richard Wright and Guy Pratt, for a rousing rendition of Comfortably Numb. They then happily handed over their instruments to David Gilmour, Richard Wright, Guy Pratt, Tim Renwick, Gary Wallis and Claudia Fontaine, and were treated to renditions of 'Money', 'What do you want from me', and various other jams, much to the delight of the other party guests.
Did they play at the Glastonbury Festival?
On 26th June 1998, The Australian Pink Floyd Show performed at the Glastonbury Festival, the biggest annual music festival in the UK. TAPFS were 2nd billing on the Acoustic stage. The '98 Festival is remembered for being one of the wettest ever, and the TAPFS' day started with Rolf Harris lending a helping hand to push their bogged truck out of the mud!!!
The Royal Albert Hall?
On November 26th 2001, TAPFS became the only Pink Floyd tribute in the world, to play at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall. They were joined on stage by the choir from the Islington Green School for a rousing rendition of 'Another Brick in the Wall'. The Islington Green School famously provided the original children's voices on 'The Wall', and one of the 2001 kids is the daughter of an original choir member who sang on the record! Oh, and, Roger Waters is said to have been in the audience!
The Royal Albert Hall show has now become a yearly event and a staple of the UK tours. The show is always attended from many fans from all over Europe and the world who make the annual trip to experience the very special atmosphere of hearing Pink Floyd music played live in The Royal Albert Hall.
Bluegrass Pink Floyd interval music?
At many of our shows we play a particular CD which always gathers a lot of interest. It is Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' played in a Bluegrass style and is called 'Rebuild The Wall' by Luther Wright and the Wrongs! It is one of the most common questions that we get asked and we are thinking of selling it ourselves through our online store! In the meantime it is available from all good music outlets.
Do TAPFS tour in North America?
In February 2003, The Australian Pink Floyd Show did a one off showcase at Hollywood's 'House of Blues' on Sunset0 commentaires 854 jours
