This is the start of a story I decided to write. I don't like it but it might give someone else an idea for one. You shouldn't show people your writing until you have finished you second draft, otherwise you will be put off.

Denice stepped from one of those huge supersonic jetliners. She had returned to a world from her past, though it seemed to have been lodged in this future and clearly it did not belong here. She was born here, in the year of 2038 and had returned in the same year aged 63. Her parents came to an unfortunate end when they were burned alive in 2047. You see, their was an explosion in there house at 17 Endeavor Street, and such a brutally massive one that no trace of them was ever discovered after the event. Denice was saved. Her visit to the mailbox several seconds beforehand was not the explanation for her survival. I am certain that she would have been destroyed too, standing only several meters from an explosion that had the power to fully cremate her parents and most of everything – and also spread their ashes infinitely skyward. The ultimate truth is that, at that moment of impact, a moment like no other in history, God reached down with a mighty and eerily translucent hand shielding Denice from the first explosion ever to destroy a whole universe.

She was saved, and then was standing on the edge of a some dusty highway. There had been a sudden transition of burning light fading into grey and then pitch black. Now the year was 1984, and Denice, obscurely offset from the future she had been born in, could do nothing more than fall to her knees. The summery little girl, sat on her ankles and held her arms around herself, the cold of an unfamiliar night bearing down. When her eyes had adjusted, the world had not brightened as she'd hoped. A bird burst from a bush nearby. The sudden explosion of noise seemed to fill her with electrical current, she tensed, shocked and then became uncontrollably limp. She wet herself.
The cracked, thirsty dirt beneath her absorbed most of this moisture. The warmth was comforting,
