The SU Sessions - Oisin Dillon
The SU Sessions present musician Oisin Dillon on Tuesday the 17th of November at 7pm as part of Music Week on Campus.
Oisin Dillon is a 24 year old musician from Bettystown. Oisin started playing music when he was just five. Being the son of a traditional musician he spent his early years being dragged to every traditional session in the north east. At the age of ten he learned to play the guitar and soon after, began to write his own songs. All through his teens he played with various rock bands and at the age of 17 recorded and released the E.P. “Wake Up” with local band “The Rise”.
After leaving home Oisin travelled around Ireland and France honing his performance skills working as a street musician and playing various open mic’s before settling in Galway. There he ran his own singer songwriter session in the S.U. bar and became involved in the Galway theatre scene composing live music scores for theatre shows. In 2008 Oisin was made musical director for “Little Maggots” theatre company.
Oisin currently lives in Dublin and gig’s all over town with his solo material and also with traditional band “The Gravel Walk” and “The Discovery Gospel Choir“. Over the years Oisin has played with, or in support to Disconnect 4, Le Galaxy, Ham Sandwich, Anthony Fury, Hamlet Sweeny, Discovery Gospel Choir, Johnny Fean(Horslips) Oisin also preformed at the 2009 Electric picnic festival.
The SU Sessions are a free weekly event open to the public and hosted by NUI, Galway Students’ Union in ECO Grounds (An Bialann) every Tuesday at 7pm. www.myspace.com/thesusessions .
