  • Samara says Aloha to surfing

    Samara Weaving and some of the cast are excited about filming away from home at an exotic location


    Summer Bay is such a sunny, exotic location - what could be better? Well, some of the cast are being treated to a trip to Hawaii as their characters are filming new scenes for the soap on location there this week. And despite being in the soap for almost two years Samara Weaving has never learned to surf before, so she is planning to learn while she's in Hawaii.

    The 19-year-old actress, who plays Summer Bay's Indigo Walker, flew to Honolulu at the weekend along with co-stars Luke Mitchell, Georgie Parker and Robert Mammone, to join the crew who had been setting up to film the exciting new plot.

    Samara said: "I think there'll definitely be some shopping, but I really want to get in the surf - I haven't learnt how to surf and think 'what better place to learn than Hawaii?'"

    The storyline the cast are filming there is being kept tightly under wraps, until the episodes are filmed in the coming months.

    Series Producer Cam Welsh said: "We've got a great storyline and the locations we're shooting in are stunning - almost as good as Summer Bay. It's an exciting opportunity for the show to do something different and expand the stories we tell."

    And an extra holiday for some of the cast...

  • A tangled web for Weaving

    EXPECT the odd lei as Home And Away's Samara Weaving heads for Hawaii to shoot upcoming episodes of the popular Seven soap


    The impossibly beautiful Weaving left for Honolulu yesterday, alongside four of her soapy colleagues (revealing who else is heading there would give away what is a powerful storyline).

    Speaking to Insider before jumping on the big bird, Weaving remained tight-lipped about the shoot, except to say, "It will surprise and excite fans. It's something big."

    The plot is another strong outing for Weaving - the niece of film actor Hugo Weaving - since moving to Sydney from Canberra to join the soap a year ago.

    "Yeah, it's been a great year," she said of her recent small-screen ascension. "I feel settled in Sydney now and things are really good."

    Beyond shooting, the 19-year-old hoped to take advantage of some Hawaiian surf and the strength of the Aussie dollar.

    "I think there'll definitely be some shopping, but I really want to get in the surf. I haven't learnt how to surf and think what better place to learn than Hawaii," she said.

    The overseas shoot is the second time Home And Away has headed abroad for work, having previously filmed in London. The Hawaiian episodes will be screened in the coming months

  • Luke set to be leaving Home and Away

    Which much-loved heartthrob is leaving Home and Away


    TV WEEK has been rocked by news that a hunk from our favourite soap is leaving, as well as the revelation that the star may be quitting acting altogether.

    Luke Jacobz has revealed he's quit the cast of Home And Away. While the actor will still be seen on air for the next few months, he's already filmed his final scenes.

    "I've thoroughly enjoyed playing Angelo," Luke, 30, tells TV WEEK. "I've worked with some amazing people - and, as they say, when one door closes, another door opens. So I'm looking forward to what's next... here or abroad."

    Although his next project hasn't been confirmed, Luke is reportedly in talks with the producers of new Channel Seven drama Wild Boys?, while an announcement about The X Factor - which he hosted last year - is also yet to be made
