- A tribute to the best f1 racing driver of all time! after wining the f1 championship 3 times, winning 41 races and 80 podiums he tragically died on the Imola race track in 1994 as he sped nose first into a barrier and the original theroy was that he snapped his neck. But now people belive Senna's injuries were caused by the front right tyre with attached suspension piece, which became loose on impact, hit him on the head and pierced his visor, and caused a fatal cranial trauma. Images of Senna's battered helmet show a puncture occurred at the top of the visor, just over his right eye. This led to the now most commonly accepted theory

the events
Taking the Tamburello Curve for the second time after the restart, Senna's Williams veered off the track just after the apex of the bend at a speed of 190mph and slammed into an unprotected concrete retaining wall. The front right side of the car took the full brunt of the impact, a wheel flew off, the suspension crumpled and the Williams catapulted back onto the track. In the split second before the car hit the wall, Senna had managed to slow it to 130mph. The monocoque had stayed intact and a slight movement of Senna's head gave brief cause for hope. But he had suffered massive head injuries. Aerial pictures of the car, blood seeping from it like oil, were seen by millions of television viewers. Senna was lifted from the wreckage and taken by helicopter to the Maggiore Hospital. On board, doctors fought to revive Senna's heart.
Thirty-seven minutes after Senna's crash, the race was restarted. Berger led for the first 11 laps before pitting and retired on lap 14. He went straight to the hospital. In Faro, Galisteu had seen the accident on television and, for an instant, was pleased because Senna would be home early. She soon realised the full horror and was called by Luiza Braga, Antonio's wife, who had arranged a plane to fly them both to Senna's bedside. The journey was in vain. The plane turned back soon after leaving Faro.
Schumacher crossed the line to win his third successive grand prix. Soon after, electrical brain tests confirmed that Senna was brain dead and being kept alive only by artificial means. Under Italian law, doctors are not allowed to turn off the machines for 12 hours. But even this support proved insufficient.
The chief medical officer, Dr Maria Theresa Fiandri, pronounced Ayrton Senna dead.
Back at the track, in the shattered remains of Senna's car, they discovered a furled Austrian flag Senna had intended to dedicate his 42nd grand prix victory to Ratzenberger's memory.

The ledgend thats is senna
Ayrton Senna 3 times f1 champion wins 41 and 80 podiums. The weekend of his death in which he snapped his neck as he crashed horrificly into a wall at around 190 mph, he was particularly upset by two events. On the Friday, during the afternoon qualifying session, Senna's fellow brizillain, the then F1 newcomer Rubens Barrichello, was involved in a serious accident that prevented him from competing in the race. Senna visited Barrichello in the hospital (he jumped the wall at the back of the facility after being barred from visitation by the doctors) and was convinced that safety standards had to be reviewed. On Saturday, the death of Austrian driver Roland Ratzenberger who crashed 2 days before senna on the same corner in practice reinforced Senna's safety concerns and caused him to consider retiring from the sport. Ironically, he spent his final morning meeting fellow drivers, determined after Ratzenberger's accident to take on a new responsibility to re-create a Drivers' Safety group to increase safety in Formula One. As the most senior driver, he was offered to take the role of leader in this effort. During the free practice at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, in 1992. Senna ran out of his car to hit the electronic kill-switch to turn off the engine in Erik Comas's car to prevent a fire and comas possible death, as comas was unconcious. This was on a 200 mph straight! in the middle of a practice session, risked his own life for another! this is shown on my video. He is not only the greates f1 driver ever in my opinion because he save a life but he was also an outstanding driver who won 3 championships and could beat shumacher with ease!0 commentaires 881 jours

15 years ago today senna died
hey guys i grew up looking at ayrton have everything on the guy cds posters books etc he was a brilliant human being and is still sadly missed today i do alot of karting and my mates even say to me the way i drive is similar to senna i hate to b second im not saying im like him just the way i go around on track that guy was a legend r i p my friend sadly missed
i wasent born when Ayrton died but after looking up everyting i could about this man i think i can safly say he is the greastest. the only other driver who can hold a candle to senna is the legandery Gilles Villeneuve R.I.P 1950 - 1982 because of his daredevil style with the scuderia. he was able to drift a 600bhp+ F1 Ferrari, Mc Claren said he was too mad to race for them. and in 1981 he took the rear wing off his 312 and beat an italian army fighter jet, sadly he was killed in a brutal discusting crash in 1982 at zolder in belgium and 2 weeks later at the circut named after Gilles Villeneuve Riccardo Paletti was killed when his car burst into flames.(there was a pile up at the start involving didier pironi who got pole position and dedicated this pole to villeneuve pironis car stalled and paletti hit him breaking both his legs and was hit by debris causing the same brain injury as Ayrton Senna at imola, it was not the flames that killed him)
