- lesbian soccer team in dublin
- Me, Myself, and I
- The Phoenix Tigers was set up in June 2004 by a group of lesbians, who thought that playing soccer was a good way to get fit, meet new people and have some fun through sport. And it is!!!
At the moment the Tigers do not play in a league. We try to play at all the LGBTQ events and tournaments including: the womens fun week in Cork (May), The Dublin Pride Sports Day (July) and the Blue Diamonds Challenge Cup in Galway (October). We also organise 'Friendly' matches against other clubs.
The Phoenix Tigers train all year round. From May to September, we train in the Phoenix Park in Dublin and from October to April , we train in the City Centre (Venue to be confirmed).
All playing abilities and fitness levels are catered for. You just need to like soccer!
You dont need to be out of the colset to play for us. We aim to create a comfortable space for everyone involved, whether they are in or out of the closet! All ages welcome!
The tigers are a great group of women!!!

phoenix tigers 2 - 4 Santry
Wed 16th April was the first outing of the Phoenix Tigers as they prepare for the road to Barcelona. The Tigers took on the formidable Santry side and even though they lost the battle they held their own for most of the match. The Santry outfit are made up of players who train a few times a week and play in a Dublin league while the Tigers pride themselves in been a social team that have a gathering once a week.
The game started at a fast pace and the Santry side showed their fitness with some fast breaks through the middle. The Tigers played the off side rule quite well and there was no score for the first twenty mins. However, the Tigers were the first to go in front when a mistake by one of the backs allowed the forward striker to steal the ball and slot it past the goalkeeper into the corner of the net. The game was on!
Santry were quick to respond and stole back a goal just a few minutes later, when a pass came across the goal mouth and was kicked in past the keeper. Santry went on to get a second before the half time whistle.
Second half brought more action as the Tigers put on some fresh legs. The tempo was upped and Santry’s quick attacking forwards were rewarded with a third goal. The Tigers never gave up and mananged to steal back a goal and were unlucky not to score the equaliser a few minutes later. Santry emerged victorious but the Tigers have plenty to be proud of from their first match of ’08.0 Comments 269 weeks
