- Ja, o mnie i jeszcze raz ja
- Echo Echo was formed in 1991 in Amsterdam by Stephen Batts and Ursula Laeubli. After six years of project work around Europe, the company relocated to Derry- Londonderry in Northern Ireland where it has been a leading force in dance ever since.
Echo Echo began its life in Derry as the resident dance company at the Playhouse until relocating to the Waterside Theatre where it has it’s own dance studio holding breathtaking views over the city and the commanding River Foyle.
With a creative home in Derry, Echo Echo often takes its passion for performing to audiences across Europe, from Ireland to Russia. The company has toured internationally with several of their previous productions including Resonance I (**** Irish Times) and II and more recently Consequences in Autumn 2007.
Echo Echo will tour a new production in March 2009. Ripple Affect will be directed and choreographed by Co-Artistic Director Steve Batts. Tour dates include Derry, Belfast, Sligo, Letterkenny and Dub
- Mission Statement
- Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company’s mission statement is to produce professional dance theatre productions and to promote interest, participation and education in dance and movement at all levels.
- Movement Style
- It is its unique values and techniques that make Echo Echo a leader in this art form. The work is based on the notion of the poetry of movement. The company sees its movement art as having a similar relationship to everyday movement as poetry does to the everyday use of words.
Rather than focusing itself only on the traditions of art dance the company sources its material in a wide range of areas, for example, martial arts, clowning, physical theatre, folk and vernacular dance forms, therapeutic movement practices, and other movement based performance forms. - Daring Feet Youth Dance
- Echo Echo runs a youth dance group called Daring Feet. It's for 13-20 year olds and members meet every week during school term, where they learn dance techniques and performance skills. Daring Feet often perform at festivals and events too. There is no need to audition, just come along to see whether you like it or not - all you need is a passion for dance!

Dance Picnic on 28th November
Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company will be running another Dance Picnic on Saturday 28th November at 1.30pm in its dance studio based in the Waterside Theatre.
Previous picnics sometimes attracted over 50 people who all joined in dancing together, including mums, dads, kids, students, grandparents, friends and neighbours.
Dance Picnic is an indoor event where people are invited to come along, meet, dance and share some food. It is held on a Saturday afternoon and Echo Echo encourages everyone to come along and participate regardless of age, ability or experience level.
Because it is indoors, there is no need to worry about the weather!
The idea stems from the company’s busy education programme which regularly sees parents, toddlers, children, young adults, elderly and people with disabilities dancing. Artistic Director, Steve Batts wanted to see these groups come together and enjoy dance and movement as a group.
The next Dance Picnic will be held on Saturday 28th November from 1.30pm to 4.30pm in the Echo Echo Dance Studio. It costs just £3 per person and everyone is asked to bring something to eat for lunch.
If anyone would like more information or to book a place, contact the Echo Echo office on 028 7134 2266 or visit www.echoechodance.com
Dance Picnic is supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

The search for the blue monsters- Day 1
This is a log of blue monster sightings that Echo Echo has received in the last 24 hours:
- All three monsters were caught reading a book in an undisclosed location in Derry yesterday morning at approx 11am.
- One monster was sighted on a park bench in the Waterside Area of the city around 1pm yesterday afternoon.
One passer-by exclaimed: "I was just out walking, minding my own business when I came across this blue creature sitting alone on a bench. You could say I was shocked alright, it's not something you see everyday. I didn't approach it because I had to rush on but I managed to get a photo."
No more sightings since this report so we believe the trio may have gone underground for now...
If you see them, please email Echo Echo ASAP.

Echo Echo Workshop Survey
Weekend Workshop Survey - November 2009
Echo Echo's weekend workshops have been a constant presence in the programme of events for many years now. The company is keen to improve this format but we need your help!
Regardless of whether you have attended a weekend workshop or not, we would appreciate you taking 5 minutes to complete this short survey. Hopefully the results will give us the feedback we need to ensure that this event can grow with the company.
