Bród Ireland West (Galway Gay Pride) 20th Anniversary Parade
Bród Ireland West (Galway Gay Pride)
20th Anniversary Parade
Bród Ireland West in the spirit of Community Co-operation attended discussions hosted by the Garda Community Liaison Officer Sergeant Gerry Mangan.
The result of that meeting and a subsequent meeting of the Bród Ireland West Committee lead to a further meeting between a delegation from Bród Ireland West and a Delegation from Galway Community Pride the following Parade route and organisation compromise has been proposed.
The 20th Anniversary Gay Pride Parade will assemble at the space between the Town Hall Theatre and the Galway Court House, Court House Square. The Parade will move from there up Eglington Street then down Shop Street and eventually Terminate at the Party in the Park in Father Burke Park on Father Griffin Road.
In an effort to foster Unity it is proposed that the Parade be lead by a combination of Bród Ireland West and the recently founded Galway Community Pride with Banners from both Groups.
This will be followed by a Horse and Carriage containing Twirley Chasis and 3 members of the original Pride parade from 1989.
Following on to this we further propose that the Large Rainbow flag (the Universal Symbol for Pride) comes next! This would then be followed by Banners from Various groups in Random Order including OutWest, Shout, Galway Community Pride and Bród Ireland West, LGBT Noise, MarriagEquality.
It is our View that the order of Banners and Marchers is immaterial and that the emphasis has to be on the Occasion of the 20th Anniversary of Galway Pride and the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots the Birth of Pride.
This compromise has been signed off by the delegations from Both Groups and was subsequently ratified by the full Committee of Bród Ireland West.
Bród Ireland West has undertaken to withdraw its already approved parade route that was to set off from City Hall in Favour of a Joint Application between Bród Ireland West and Galway Community Pride in the Name of Galway Gay Pride.
Bród Ireland West (Galway Gay Pride) would Like to thank Sergeant Gerry Mangan for his assistance in this matter.
In a wider Context Bród Ireland West welcome this agreement as it serves the wider LGBT Community.
Up to date Bród Ireland West (Galway Gay Pride) had taken a policy decision not to engage in negative publicity however we are Proud to announce this Common Sense Agreement that allows the attention to focus back on the 20th Anniversary of Galway Gay Pride (Bród Ireland West)

Loving Annabelle Star Diane Gaidry
2007 saw the release of Loving Annabelle, a controversial yet touching story of Annabelle (Erin Kelly), a rebellious teenager who is sent to a Catholic boarding school and forms and an instant attraction to her teacher, Simone Bradley, played by Diane Gaidry. Theirs is a story of forbidden love and perhaps provokes underlying themes of what the lgbt community are currently facing in Ireland and the world today, not just student/teacher relationships.
Diane Gaidry is currently summering in Ireland and contacted Brod Ireland West recently and kindly offered to help in this year's festival in whatever way she could.
Brod is currently organising a screening of the film which will run during the course of the festival. The screening will also include a chance to meet and speak with Diane and will offer a chance to those in attendence to ask any questions they may have regarding the movie.
However, she will also be one of our Judges at this year's Rose Of Pride Pageant.

December 1st 2007 is world Aids day.
To commerorate this day AIDS West will be holding a number of events including bringing the much acclaimed gay choir Gloria to Galway.
Aidswest provides much of the safer sex Information packs you see in Babylon and other gay Venues including the free Condoms and Lube.
However AIDS West does not get funding from the Government to provide these safer sex packs.
To ensure AIDS West continues to have the resources to provide free condoms to Gay venues Club Babylon has decided to run a fundraiser with AidsWest on Saturday December 1st,
All funds raised for Aidswest will go straight back into nthe gay community in provided free Condoms and other safer sex materials.
It is Vital that we give Aidswest as much support as we can and play our part in the fight against HIV and other sexually transmitted Infections.
So come along to what promises to be the biggest night on the Galway Gay scene since Pride
