Capitol Gig 26th June 2008
Figured our first gig with Haffey on the bass should be blogged in recognition of its significance in the Marriot Lane legacy!!
It was a quieter night than we were used to - thanks to a Spain V Russia semi final no doubt, although there was a hardcore element of supporters eagerly anticipating the un-veiling of our new bass player. We went for a fast paced set with all the usual favourites plus a couple of new songs for the listening pleasures of all those in support. Right from the off, it was obvious that the new style of bass playing offered by Haffey was making an immesaurable impact on the set, with many heads in the crowd bobbing along in appreciation, followed by cries of 'mon Haffey from the diehards. There was no doubt that Haffey's melodic basslines were a welcome addition to our set which was finished off with 2 new songs, both of which proved most favourable with the crowd.
We'd like to thank everyone for coming along to support us and hope to see you at the next gig!! In the meantime we are getting set to head back into the studio to record "In It For Good" so stay tuned for more news on that!!

HELLO!!!
I thought it would be a useful idea to write blog entries there is something significant happening with the band so, although this entry is a little belated, they should be on time in the future lol!
Two weeks ago we went to Q10 studios in Glasgow to record the song Warning Sign (check it out on the main page) which should serve as a B-side to the single On Your Own. There was a platinum disc on the wall for the single Love Is All Around by Wet Wet Wet - which anyone old enough will remember was at number one in the charts for months - this was sure to act as an inspiration were we not to find it ha (!)
Dave was solid on the drums, then it was up to me to put down a quality bass track - which I did with earnest, then highly disciplined performances from Craig and Martin on guitar ensured that the music was done failry quickly (important coz we only had around 8 hours to get the whole thing done).
Then onto the vocals, which tend to take longer to get right! It wasn't a case of trying to sing in tune - more a case of deciding the way we wanted the tune to sound; we really wanted to get it spot on and not feel, in hindsight, we should have done it another way! Time went by and it had been around 5 or 6 hours since any of us had ate anything and we were all feeling quite hypoglycemic and alas our time in the studio was drawing to a close so we really needed to get the vocals done before getting something to eat - it was very tempting just to say "that'll do" by this point! We persevered however and got it to a standard we felt happy with before leaving the engineer to mix it down while we went out to get a chippy - to the delight of everyone (particularly Dave who looked ready to eat the engineer
).
All in all though I felt it went very well and for me it was the first time recording with the band and we're hoping to get back to the studio relatively soon and get another song up for your listening pleasure.

Hey guys just surfing Stirling bands, and I'm pleased to let you know... Good Vibrations (IMEX business park, Springkurst) now has recording facilities in the form of myself providing my powerful mobile PC set up in the nicely treated practice rooms (and the use of the lovely kits and amps in there!) where you will get recorded to a professional level with a qualified and experienced engineer and you will get your tracks mixed there and then!
We charge £150 a day;
This price includes 6 hours room hire during the day (11 - 5), Mixing, Mastering and the finished article on a CD in your hand at the end of the session!
