This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Peace One Day and we’d like to ask for your support. Once again, we aim to manifest commitments to Peace Day in each of the 192 UN member states.

There are lots of ways in which you can get involved. For example, you could join thousands of others around the world and hold a screening of our new film, ‘The Day After Peace’, or you could be a part of our football campaign, ‘One Day One Goal’. However big or small, whatever way you decide to observe Peace Day, we would love for you to tell us about it!

What is Peace One Day?

Peace One Day is a not-for-profit organisation. It is impartial and independent of any government, political persuasion, corporation or religious creed.

Since the adoption of UN GA Resolution 55/282 declaring 21 September annually as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, Peace One Day has been working:

1) To raise global awareness of Peace Day

2) To make Peace Day a day of global unity by engaging all sectors of society including governments, organisations of the United Nations system, regional and non-governmental organisations and individuals in the peaceful observance of 21 September through the practical manifestation of non-violence and ceasefire in accordance with UN GA Resolution 55/282

This documentary charts the remarkable 10-year journey of award-winning filmmaker Jeremy Gilley to establish an annual Peace Day on 21 September. The camera follows Gilley as he galvanises the countries of the world to recognise an official day of ceasefire and non-violence.

But even after the member states of the UN unanimously adopt Peace Day, the struggle isn’t over. As the years pass, there’s not a single ceasefire. The voices of the cynics are growing louder – and now Gilley’s non-profit organisation, Peace One Day, is in dire financial straits. But he can’t let it fail.

The film’s breathtaking conclusion finds Gilley joined by Jude Law in Afghanistan, attempting to spearhead a massive vaccination against polio on Peace Day. Will peace prevail? Will lives be saved? Or were the cynics right?

Through the 'One Day One Goal' campaign, Peace One Day aims to see football matches played in all United Nations member states on Peace Day, 21 September. Each match will celebrate cooperation, unity and the power of football to bring people together.

What is 'One Day One Goal'?
· an opportunity for individuals, communities and nations to rise above violence, conflict and differences to celebrate a shared passion and a common goal
· football matches played all over the world, whether in major stadiums, local pitches, in the streets, on the beach, etc.
· teams made up of a mix of players who normally may not find themselves playing on the same side - they might be from different cultures, communities, schools, neighborhoods, families, etc.

What makes a 'One Day One Goal' Match?
