- I, Ian Richard Kyle Paisley MP MLA (born 6 April 1926) am the current First Minister of Northern Ireland. Styled as The Reverend, Right Honourable or as Doctor, depending upon my current role and location, I am veteran politician and church leader in Northern Ireland. As the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), the largest single grouping in the 2007 elections to the Northern Ireland Assembly, I was elected First Minister on 8 May 2007.
In addition to my leadership of the DUP, I am a founding member and current Moderator of the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster.I have been Member of Parliament for the constituency of North Antrim since 1970, and am a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for the same constituency.
