Deep down in the dark depths & doldrums of Dunedin lies a band isolated from the Record Company Industry - primarily Auckland. This band is oblivious to any current genre trends, which allows them to push their sound further and further out of the box…

“Left Or Right” is a power trio heavily brewed in Invercargill since 1985. (Once acknowledged by some old codger from The Rolling Stones as the arsehole of the world.)

The band’s sound has been described as a chunky mixture of spacey roots, sonic jazz & fuzzy rock/blues. However recent live performances have taken a psychedelic, noise rock approach including frenzied contrasts and seductive dynamics. Their live show also draws mass inspiration from retro/vintage acts of the late 60’s and early 70’s such as Cream, Deep Purple & Black Sabbath. The music itself differs from that around NZ at the moment, yet remains appealing & is sure to keep you guessing.

Left Or Right’s 2008 tour schedule was more than hectic due to touring full time, coinciding with a spot at the popular PHAT 09 New Years Festival situated on the West Coast (Inangahua). During N.Z Music Month expect to be hit in the chops with something out of the ordinary when Left Or Right play Queenstown, Te Anau, Port Chalmers & headline the 2009 Bluff Oyster & Seafood Festival. Later this year, Left Or Right will team up with Raglan heavyweights Cornerstone Roots for a number of shows. This is a chance to check out two of the best independent / underground roots acts New Zealand has to offer.

The highly anticipated debut record from Left Or Right is set to finally drop this September. This will be released independently on C.D & online. The record will also be released on Vinyl as a limited edition, collectors item.

2008/2009 Summer National Tour

“Introducing Aotearoa’s only alternative heavy rock, dub/reggae, power trio!”

Left or Right are touring New Zealand extensively over the 2009 summer and new year period coinciding with their announcement for the mind blowing new year festival PHAT 09 on the West Coast of the South Island (Inangahua). The 16 show tour spans Riverton to Auckland and runs from December through till March of 2009.

In 2008, Left or Right completed two extensive South Island tours & a 16 date Nationwide "Chilled Mish" winter tour with shows from Bluff to Auckland. The band was honoured to headline the “Bluff Oyster and Seafood Festival” in May and were named Southland “Band of the Year” at the recent Southland Musicians awards.

Left or Right have recently been busy at Albany St Studios in Dunedin recording their long awaited debut E.P for release in 2009.
