  • interview wiv Gavin Butler

Gavin was nice enough to answer some of your questions.....

    1. How long did it take you to write your new album?

It was pretty much written within a few months, Fierce Panda said, "uh yeah about the album. It needs to be done asap." So a few months and a montage later and we had an album.

    2. Who was your biggest inspiration through the writting process?

I can't really remember listening to much while we were writing, my personal inspirations have always been people like Freddie Mercury, Mike Patton, Daryl Pallumbo and Steven Tyler because they're all great frontmen and come up with amazing vocal melodies.

    3. who was the least proffesional in the studio?

I think we can all be tarnished with that one, recording was a good laugh, we'd get stuff done but we'd have a good time doing it. Messing about, putting each other off while we recorded, writing lyrics on matts chest so i could remember them.

    4. who is the best smelling member of the band?

We'll i'm partial to Seans musk, it's haunting on occasions. But we all smell rather beautiful, like roses.

    5. once and for all where is the best gig you've played on your Euopean tour so far?

Wow, nearly every night on the Lostprophets tour was amazing, it'd be tough to pick one. ..:Tilburg in Holland was awesome because it was the biggest crowd on the tour and they all went crazy for us, even though they'd never heard of us. But our last show Frankfurt was absolutly crazy, sweaty in your face anarchy. People were jumping on stage, we were jumping off stage it was the best way to end the tour. But we're really looking forward to the taste of chaos and our own tour in January that should be rad.

    6. Who would be your ideal support act? (in a perfect world)

I'd say Queen, but i wouldn't like to follow them. That's a wierd one because i wouldn't want one of my favorite bands to do it cos i'd want them to headline. Bugger it Bon Jovi playing Cross Roads song for song.

    7. Who's coat is that jacket?

    Dai's

    8. snoz having a panic attack in primark....????

I don't know about that?? maybe there was some enclosed spaces. He's not a fan of them.

9.If you could be a superhero what would be your name and what powers would you have?

I'd pretty much want the powers of Superman, cos lets be honest he is the best superhero. He has it all; strength, he can fly, stop bullets with his eye. Maybe add on to his powers the power to wail on a guitar, or the ability to play 'Goodness Gracious Great Balls of Fire on the piano. I'd think for a name i'd go for something understanted like Awesomo The Fantasmical.

    10. When did you know that this was going to be your 9-5
    and how did it feel?

I have a business aswell as the band so it's kinda not all i do. But it's cool to be doing a lot with the band. I wouldn't call it our 9-5 yet, cos when your doing a 9-5 you actually get payed.

11.'When can you see yourself making a new album?'

Maybe the end of next year sometime, Maybe the year after. This one's only just come out, fed up of it already are you? tutut. Nah when ever we feel it's the right time i'd imagine.

    12. 'Whats the sickest prank someone has played this tour?

Jay was going to put his willy on our tour managers face while he was sleeping and wait for him to wake up realise what was infront of him and then start shouting/crying. But that never happened, and for that i'm sad.
