What should the governments priority be for Alcohol?
- Raise the age people buy alcohol, this will prevent young people from getting access to alcohol
- Make Alcohol dearer to buy and stop special offers in supermarkets
- Encourage responsible drinking, maybe have 'safe' areas for young people to do it.
- Lower the age to buy alcohol and trust young people to drink responsibly
- Prosecute people who buy alcohol for young people, including the shops who sell it to them
-
What do you think about the age young people can buy Alcohol?
- Someone who is 16 should be able to purchase alcohol from a local bar, if with someone over 18.
- The age should remain at 18 for pubs, clubs, shops and supermarkets.
- The age should remain at 18 for pubs, clubs but should go up to 21 for shops and supermarkets.
- The age should be phased in, 17 for bars, 18 for clubs, 19 for shops and supermarkets
- I think the age should be different in different areas; Eg 21 in city centre, but 18 in local areas.
-
- Mosquito? What Mosquito? I have never even heard of it!
- It is shocking that they are infringing on our human rights, I feel disgusted with their actions!
- I quite like the sound of the Mosquito, it makes me wanna Party, Party Party!
- Adults should not pick on us for hanging around the streets, we have nowhere else to go.
- Let's design our own product, but aim it at adults and give them a taste of their own medicine!

United effort to improve life for city’s youth
STEP forward Glasgow's youngest politicians the group who aim to take strides in transforming life for youngsters in the city.
They have just been voted in as Glasgow's rep-resentatives on the Scot-tish Youth Parliament at a Mitchell Library ceremony.
The 14 to 22-year-olds were picked to represent their local areas.
Student Julie Lennox, 18, is on her second term representing Springburn and was Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament of the Year 2009.
Last year Julie represented Scotland at the World Youth Congress in Canada.
Julie said: "Adults are always making decisions on behalf of young people and quite often they make the wrong ones so it's important we have a forum so our voices are heard."
At age 14, Umer Ansari is the youngest Glasgow member of the Scottish Youth Parliament.
The Bellahouston Academy pupil wants to work to improve the environment in Govan.
He said: "I've always been interested in politics so I thought this was a good way to get involved.
"I want to see more bins in around Govan but I also want bigger issues tackled, like gangs and knife crime."
The Scottish Youth Parliament, set up in 1999, has representatives for each government constituency and any young person aged 14 to 25 can get involved.
Representatives get together four times a year.

New Website for Scottish Youth Parliament!
http://www.syp.org.uk
After working hard behind the scenes for a while and as a bit of an early festive gift, the Scottish Youth Parliament is delighted to launch its brand new website, designed to make access to the organisation much easier for everyone who has an interest.
Most of the features of the site remain as before, but we've seized the opportunity to redesign and re-organise, basing the site on how our different users want to interact with us, rather than being a collection of functions. Anyway, this sort of stuff can all begin to sound a bit boring after a while if you're not a 'techy', and we don't want to take away from the excitement of having a new website to play with!

Gemma52 weeks agoHeey!
I'm Gemma Welsh and I'm a member of the East Dunbartonshite Youth Senate ( EDYS.)
We are a subsidary of the SYP and we work within our area to give young people a voice and encourage them to get involved with the community and the decisions being made within it. Two of our members are MSYP.
Was just hoping for a wee chat!
Our youth senate has gone into a bit of a lull since most of our members have now moved on to uni/college/work and the likes and can't devote much time to the senate anymore.
So we're planning a recruitment drive and while we're at it we're looking at other areas youth groups and how they run their groups, what they do, how they're organised etc etc
I realise this might be a bit of a pain but was wondering if you could tell me a bit about what you guys do, how you go about it, what you do to promote yourselves within the community and all that kinda stuff.
I would be extremely grateful! =D
Hope to hear from ya soon!
