      1million4Disability Campaign

      There are more than 50 million citizens in Europe with a disability, 10% of the population of the EU. People with disabilities are twice as unlikely to reach third level education as non disabled people. Many children with disabilities do not have equal access to education.

      The 1Million4Disability Campaign was launched on 23 January 2007 by the European Disability Forum (EDF). The objective is to collect 1 million signatures to put pressure on the European Commission and individual states to deliver disability rights in all aspects of life. The petition will be presented to the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Parliament in Brussels on 4 October 2007.

    • Sinn Féin to protest at Government attempt to gag its TDs

      Sinn Féin will be holding a protest at the gates of Leinster House tomorrow, Tuesday 26th June, at the refusal of the Fianna Fáil/PD/Green Government to give adequate speaking time in the Dáil to opposition TDs outside of the Fine Gael and Labour parties.

      The Government is refusing to change Standing Orders to allow the five TDs outside of the Fine Gael and Labour Parties to form a technical group and access speaking rights. In the last Dáil the Green Party called for Standing Orders to be changed to allow five TDs to form such a Group.

      The protest will take place from 1pm to 2pm on Tuesday 26th June outside the gates of Leinster House.

      The annual Wolfe Tone Commemoration takes place this Sunday, gathering at 1:30pm in Sallins, Co. Kildare.

      A bus will be leaving Parnell Square at 11:30am. Anybody wishing to travel on the bus can contact Paul Lynch on 0861252739

      We are encouraging people to take their cameras with them and send their photos to photos@dublinsinnfein.com for publication on the Dublin Sinn Féin website.

      We are also encouraging all Sinn Féin cumainn to bring along their cumann banners.

      Sinn Féin Demand Speaking Rights Picket
      Dublin Sinn Féin will be folding a picket outside Leinster House on Tuesday 26th June from 1-2 demanding more speaking rights in the Dáil.

      Shell to Sea Campaign

      Local people have asked activists to visit the Rossport area over the next few weeks to show solidarity with the campaign. Some Dublin activists will be travelling to Mayo for the anniversary of the jailing of the Rossport Five on June 29th. For more information call 0876181620.



      IPSC Trip to Palestine

      The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign is organising a trip to Palestine this autumn from Saturday the 20th of October to Saturday the 27th. The trip will include visits to Bethlehem (Including Deheishe refugee camp and a tour of the Apartheid Wall), Ramallah (Including Arafat's tomb), Hebron, Nablus and Jerusalem. A number of meetings will be arranged with Palestinian and Israeli peace activists, NGOs and academics. Total cost of the trip is likely to be about €1,000 including flights, accommodation, meals and local transport.

      In memory of Alexandros Grigoropoulos, a 15 year old who was shot and killed by police in Athens on Saturday night. His death has provoked large scale protests, occupations and strikes all over Greece. A call has been made for International Solidarity. There have already been Greek Embassy pickets in London and Berlin.

      The Irish Republican Youth Movement, Ógra Shinn Féin, have said that they are committed to campaigning for the immediate release of 1983 Long Kesh Escapee Pól Brennan, who has been incarcerated in a US prison since January this year.

      They said they will be stepping up efforts to highlight his plight in the time ahead, which includes two ‘Free Pól Brennan’ vigils on Tuesday 14 October, one at 6.30pm outside the GPO in Dublin and the other at Queen’s Student’s Union in Belfast at 7.30pm.

      The Current Denial of Rights Being endured In Maghaberry Prisoner of War encampment by Democratic Irish Men Is another hidden part of the Process to alienate Ireland and her people from the Establishment of the Republic Declared In 1916 and Paid for through the suffering of all the people of Ireland Ever since. Regardless of current political conviction I would advise those of Social conscience to research the Conditions being endured by Republican inmates at Maghaberry and the discomfort inflicted upon their Families. As long as a foreign Nation Imposes Partition upon the Island of Ireland there will be People who in turn will resist Partition and these people risk capture by the enemy, this is a political consequence of a political war therefore captured freedom fighters deserve Prisoner of War status as do any other captured combatants in any other war this is the oldest war in Europe regardless of current magnitude or publicity
