Mean Moms
Someday when my children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a parent,
I will tell them, as my Mean Mom told me:
I loved you enough to ask where you were going, with whom, and what time you would be home.
I loved you enough to be silent and let you
discover that your new best friend was a creep.
I loved you enough to stand over you for
two hours while you cleaned your room,
a job that should have taken 15 minutes.
I loved you enough to let you see anger,
disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children
must learn that their parents aren't perfect.. I loved you enough to let you assume the
responsibility for your actions even when the
penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.
But most of all, I loved you enough to say
NO when I knew you would hate me for it.
Those were the most difficult battles of all.
I'm glad I won them, because in the end you won, too. Someday when your children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates parents, you will tell them.
Was your Mom mean? I know mine was.
We had the meanest mother in the whole world!
While other kids ate candy for breakfast,
we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast.
When others had a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat sandwiches.
And you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that was different from what other kids had, too.
Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times. You'd think we were convicts in a prison.
She had to know who our friends were and what we were doing with them. She insisted that if we said we would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for an hour or less.
We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve to break the Child Labor Laws by making us work.
We had to wash the dishes, make the beds,
learn to cook, vacuum the floor, do laundry,
empty the trash and all sorts of cruel jobs. I think she would lie awake at night thinking of more things for us to do.
She always insisted on us telling the truth,
the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
By the time we were teenagers, she could read our minds and had eyes in the back of her head.
Then, life was really tough!
Mother wouldn't let our friends just honk
the horn when they drove up. They had to come up to the door so she could meet them.
While everyone else could date
when they were 12 or 13,
we had to wait until we were 16.
Because of our mother we missed out
on lots of things other kids experienced.
None of us have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's
property or ever arrested for any crime.
It was all her fault.
Now that we have left home, we are all educated, honest adults.
We are doing our best to be mean parents just like Mom was.
I think that is what's wrong with the world today.
It just doesn't have enough mean moms!

Single Woman's Prayer
Now I lay me down to sleep.
Please don't send me no more creeps.
Please just send me one good man.
One without a wedding band.
One good man who's sweet as pie.
Who brushed his teeth and doesn't lie.
Who dresses neat and doesn't smell.
And is sexy like my man Denzel.
Is super-rich like Michael J.
On second thought, that's okay.
Man, if I should die before I wake,
that would truly take the cake;
No matrimony or honeymoon.
No fancy reception planned for June.
No throwing of the wedding bouquet.
Please, God, don't let me go out that way.
If I die before I meet Mr. Right
I won't go out without a fight.
But then again with my luck,
He'd probably be just some schmuck.
The single life is not that bad
I know it's just a passing fad.
I won't be blue. I will not frown.
Besides, I like my toilet seat down.
No more makeup, won't comb my hair.
So never mind this stupid prayer.
The single life will do just fine.
So what's up, girlfriend?

Love you Sese!
Mosese Falamoe Lavaki

Our beloved son and brother, Mosese Falamoe Lavaki, 19, of Provo, returned to the presence of our loving Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Mosese fought a courageous fight against all odds to overcome injuries sustained in a long boarding accident. Mosese was born August 8, 1988 in Provo, UT to Falamoe Oteine Lavaki and Lupieta (Moala) Uluave Lavaki of Provo.
Mosese enjoyed working along side his father and brothers. He was a hard worker and was a dedicated employee at Home Depot. He loved being in the company of his family, cousins, and friends. Mosese taught himself how to play the guitar. He and his cousins enjoyed many hours of jam sessions. He was also very proud of his heritage and where he came from.
Mosese graduated from Provo High School in 2006. His smile and example will always be remembered by his classmates and football team. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mosese put his heart and soul into serving the Deacons Quorum in the Sunset 12th Tongan Ward. His greatest desire was to serve a full-time mission for his Lord and Savior.
Mosese is survived by his parents, Falamoe O. Lavaki and Lupieta U. Lavaki of Provo; two brothers, Sione ÔAlamoti Lavaki and Siosiua Falamoe Lavaki both of Provo; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family wishes to express their thanks for the loving care he received from the doctors, nurses and caretakers of Utah Valley Specialty Hospital and Vista Home and Health Care.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the Sunset 12th Tongan Ward Chapel, located at 1020 South 1100 West, Provo. A viewing will be held Friday, November 2, 2007 from 7 pm-11pm at the Sunset Stake Center, located at 1100 West 1560 South, Provo. Interment will be at the Provo City Cemetery.
Condolences may be sent to the family at walkerfamilymortuary.com.

THE SOUND CREWS MESSED UP LOLA'S DANCE N PLAY HER MUSIC SO SLOW. THEY EVEN MESSED UP THE PIANO FOR THE GIRLS WHO WAS PLAYING ON PIANO SO THEY HAVE TO DO IT TWICE. THERE WERE 12 GIRLS COMPETING N THEY WERE TOLD THAT NOBODY IS ALLOWED BACK THERE TO HELP OUT THE GIRLS. THEY ALLOWED THE MOM OF THE GIRL WHO WON TO BE BACK THERE THE WHOLE TIME TO HELP HER DAUGHTER OUT. IT SEEMS LIKE THAT ONLY WHEN A BLONDE GIRL COME ON THEY THEY MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING WENT WELL.
