Whom do you serve
Whom Do You Serve
In today’s world the hustle and bustle of everyday life can seem like a rat race. We go to our jobs, we pay our bills, and we support our family and we even contribute to our community. Most people will also have hobbies that help them to relax, or possibly to even make us happy. With all this together it can make for a full plate, and often with no room for anything else. As Christians this can be a serious situation needing great attention. As Christian we love the Lord, and we would want to live as he would wish. Though often we get so tied up in the “gotta do” list that we forget what we are doing it for. Perhaps even who for. Without necessarily meaning to we place things higher in priority and without thinking, place those that should be held high, towards the back of our list. In Exodus 20:3 we read "You shall have no other gods before me” Before we know it, we can find ourselves worshiping another god entirely. Our jobs, our homes, perhaps even our own personal glory, can find its way to the top of our list and finding ourselves without much and any time for the Savior we say we truly serve and worship.
The Word of God reads that we are to give our life to him entirely. Much of the problems come from the teaching that to be successful, you must have wealth and popularity, and to gain that, we strive with all we have to obtain it. But in the strive to gain, we loose sight of the promise we made for the redemption of our souls. We as Christians have not only given our hearts to God, but have also vowed to serve him thru the life we have been given. It is not that we love the Lord any less, but rather simply loosing focus due to placing items on our plates that distract us, and therefore lead us off track. The enemy is a skilled opponent, so do not underestimate him. If you can not be tempted with sinful pleasures, often good hearted people find themselves lost to the overwhelming list of their personal wants. They may find themselves not necessarily living in sin, but rather simply serving neither God, nor the enemy, but rather serving themselves. This in itself is a sin.
The Bible reads in Revelations 3:16, so then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, will I spew you out of my mouth. We know that if we are cold, this means we simply do not serve God at all. If we are hot then we serve him with everything. But God also states here that if we are found somewhere in the middle, then that is the same as not serving him at all. The Bible also reads in Luke 16:13, 13 “No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. Let everyone that claims to love Christ, examine themselves today. Asking ourselves, where God is on our list, and if we find anything that we have placed before it then that has been our God. But having it revealed to us now, May we make a choice to change our list of priority to better fit our promise to God. So that we may truly say we are servants of the Most High God, and Jesus Christ is our Savior
God bless

BURDENS GIVE US WINGS
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about so great a cloud
of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth
so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set
before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our
faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the
throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction
of sinner against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your
minds. (Hebrews 12:1-3, KJV)
I'd like to start this mornings' devotional with a parable. Long
ago God had a great many burdens which He wished to have
carried from one place to another on earth, so He asked the ani-
mals to lend a hand. But all of them began to make excuses for
not helping. The elephant, was too dignified...the lion, too proud
and so on. Finally, the birds came to God and said..."If you tie
the burdens into small bundles, we'll be glad to carry them for
you. We are small, but we would like to help."
So, God fastened upon the back of each one small bundles and
they all set out walking across the plain to their destination.
They sang as they went, and did not seem to feel the weight of
their burdens at all. Every day, the burden seems lighter, until
the load seem to be lifting the birds, instead of the birds carry-
ing the burdens.
When they arrived at their destination, they discovered that
when they removed their loads, there were wings in their place,
wings which enabled them to fly to the sky and tree tops. They
had learned how to carry their burdens, and their loads had be-
come wings to carry them nearer to God.
Moral of the parable: The burdens we carry for others may be-
come wings of the spirit to lift us into happiness such as we
have never known.
Brothers and sisters...We should always bear in mind that the
struggles we face will be used to make us stronger, wiser, and
more capable than we were before. When we go through diffe-
rent hardships we should remember that God is able to bring
great results from the hardest of our struggles. We shouldn't
face the obstacles ahead of us with murmuring or complaining,
but rather we should stand tall and know that we are well equip-
ped to handle every trial that comes our way. The Lord first e-
quips us to handle the problem before it is brought before us.
Psalm 138:8 says..."The Lord will perfect that which concerneth
me" (KJV).
Dearly beloved...The Lord does not wish for us to fail, but ra-
ther He wishes for us to triumph and succeed in every area of
our lives. Be encouraged and know that the trials we face today
do serve a purpose for our tomorrow. Never think of giving up
simply because the weight seem too heavy for you right now.
Stand firm and let God know that your eyes are focused on
Him and not on the burdens that you carry today. The Lord
will be faithful to show you how strong you have become be-
cause of the trials that you were triumphant over.
My beloved in the Lord...I hope this mornings' devotional en-
courage you to never think of giving up or giving in. Make up
your mind to stand strong in the Lord and in the power of His
might. The Lord who brought you to it has promised to also
bring you through it. Trust Him!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for guiding the circumstances of my
life so that Your plan and purpose has been accomplished,
even when I was unaware. Do whatever You need to do in my
life to bring about Your plans and purposes for me, now and
always. In Jesus' name I pray...Amen!

Phyllis asks for prayer on October 15...
Please join me in this prayer of committment I feel we all need to pray once in a while a prayer of commimttment as well as our needs God will bless each of us if we do and I am including myself humbly in this prayer today "Our Father Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven; Give us this day our daily bread; And Forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation But deliver us from evil. Amen For thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory for ever and ever. Amen Dear Lord, I thank You for the Grace of being alive this morning; I thank You for the sleep that has refreshed me; I thank You for the chance to make a new beginning." Dear Lord, I give you my hands to do Your work; I give You my feet to go Your way; I give You my eyes to see as You see; I give You my tongue to speak Your words; I give You my mind that You may think in me; I give You my spirit that You may pray in me. Above all, I give You my heart that You may love in me - love the Father and love all humankind. I give You my whole self, Lord, that You may grow in me, so that it is You who lives, works and prays in me I'm glad You are going to be with me today. Help me in all I do and say today, bring a smile to my lips for all I meet today, place on my tongue kind and gentle words for all I speak with today. And when the day's over bring me home safely." Grant unto me, my Lord, that with peace in mind I may face all that this new day is to bring even all my infirmities and pain and suffering. Grant unto me grace to surrender myself completely to Thy holy will. Instruct and prepare me in all things for every hour of this day. Whatsoever tidings I may receive during the day, do teach me to accept them calmly, in the firm conviction that all eventualities fulfill Thy holy will. Govern my thoughts and feelings in all I do and say. When things unforeseen occur, let me not forget that all comes down from You Lord. Teach me to behave sincerely and reasonable toward every member of my family and all leaders and members in this group and all other human beings, that I may not cause confusion and sorrow to anyone. Bestow upon me, Lord, strength to endure the fatigue of the day and to bear my share in all its passing events. Guide my will and teach me to pray, to believe, to hope, to suffer, to forgive, and to love. Lord, touch each staff leader , member and friend of this group and all groups that we belong to and help ease pain and suffering for so many are suffering with differnet infirmities and need your touch today. Surround them with Your love and peace and remove all anxiety that some may be facing and meet every need represented here today and we thank You Lord for being right here beside us every min of every day guiding us and helping us to endure thorugh all the trials we face . Thank You Jesus and we pray this prayer of committment and prayer needs in Your name We stand together in agreement and in faith believing the answer to our prayers are already on the way and we praise You and lift You up for You dwell in the midst of the praises of Your people Amen God bless Sister Phyllis
