- Hometown: They're from Oxford, but they've just moved to Brighton where they share a three-storey house - with its own herb garden, in case you wondered.
Foals are no fools - in fact, they're undergraduates who have just dropped out of Oxford Uni after one year to pursue a career as the brainiest punk-funksters in Britain. Another band for whom the Rapture's House of Jealous Lovers was Year Zero, Foals have just signed to Transgressive Records, home of Battle, the Young Knives and Polytechnic. With nothing available to buy as yet on CD, it's the live gig where Foals are in their element.

an update for the sake of an update:
hi guys.
so i'm currently sat in strong rooms studios in shoredicth, surrounded on all sides by some of the most unpleasantly psychedelic wall mural i've ever seen. admittedly, i haven't seen all that many--but let me tell you, these are bad. imagine a bathroom decorated in a south american aqua-marine fashion by a diy enthusiast heavily influenced by changing rooms circa 1996. is that a clear enough mental image? i sure do hope so.
we're mixing our next top ten single, mathletics. it sounds really great--really, you know, psychedelic, and... latin. most of the percussion has been performed on carefully tuned peruvian seashells. conches and the like. release date? august-ish.
in other news, we can now confirm that we are playing with bloc party and the cribs in december. i haven't heard of two of the venues, but apparently they're quite big. bigger than the entirety of oxford, i expect. so come down, have a few beers, and watch us drop our musical bricks into the musical canyon. details are on our myspace.
before then, we're taking a while off to record the album. our first show is at the end of july. most of the festivals we're doing are up on myspace. and in september we'll start our relentless touring. we might even be playing some shows in europe.

yannis has grown a judeo-greco studio beard. jack is well drunk after two pints. walter is on his eighth pint and is still curiously coherent. jimmy is dressed entirely in black and thinks his retinas have become detached. edwin, well, the observer magazine just about sums him up, eg. self-satisfied, smug

Hi Myself and Kelly work for a television production company called Twenty Twenty. We are making a documentary series for the BBC sending 16 & 17 year olds to live with a family in a foreign country for ten days. It's a chance to experience family life, schooling and a whole new culture. We're looking for a mix of teenagers who for one reason or another need to change their ways at home, whether it be improve relationships with parents, get a job or put more effort in to education. So if you're getting a bit fed up with life in the UK and fancy test driving a family abroad, we want to hear from you. We are going to five different countries over the next 4 months.
