- Eric Patrick Clapton was born on 30 March 1945 in his grandparents’ home at 1 The Green, Ripley, Surrey, England. He was the son of 16-year-old Patricia Molly Clapton (b. 7 January 1929, d. March 1999) and Edward Walter Fryer (b. 21 March 1920, d. 1985), a 24-year-old Canadian soldier stationed in England during World War II. Before Eric was born, Fryer returned to his wife in Canada.
At 13, Clapton received an acoustic Spanish Hoya guitar for his birthday, but he found learning the instrument so difficult he nearly gave up. Influenced by the blues from an early age, he practiced for hours on end, struggling to learn chords and trying to copy the exact sounds of black blues artists such as Big Bill Broonzy that he had on his little Grundig Cub tape recorder
Clapton joined his first band at 17 - The Roosters and became a solo artist in the early 70's

Heyy, Can i jst say Clapton is the BEST guitarist in the WORLD !! I think tears in heaven was his best song in dedication to Connor. It's such an amazing song and he is just my hero !
