- Ok so I am getting married to "the man of my dreams"...a man from Massachusetts USA in about 10 days!! How awesome is that!! The countdown is on!! Organising a wedding is taking up my spare time just now in the midst of working!
I am a Critical Care Nurse, have been for 4 years now (before that a general nurse for 4 years) and work in an Intensive Care Unit in Brisbane.... for now. Not my thing to work in a Private Hospital and get the pt's that just need pampering for the night, but its bringing in the money!

- I have to go for the "Red Sox" Boston Baseball team, just cause my fiance does! :-) Ok so I love tennis-Australian Open, Wimbledon, Davis Cup....love watching them all. Even been to centre court at the Australian Open to watch a game!

Hi Everybody!
If you're reading this, you got my email! This blog will probably be my main mode of keeping in touch with you, so check back regularly!
After about 2 days of travel, I made it safe and sound to Brisbane. It was very amazing and unreal to finally be here after over a year of waiting! Michelle's family has been so great to me, and I love spending time with them when I have the chance. So, I started work as manager at Fortis Fitness, which is my brother-in-law David's personal training studio, the Tuesday after I arrived. It's a small downtown studio, and we're trying to grow and expand our market. I work 6am-2pm M-F, so I get up around 4:40am to bike into the city! It takes some serious getting-used-to. My quads and calves are like tree trunks...or, getting there.
Also, Michelle and I found an apartment, and I moved in on June 23rd. Address is 5/45 Derby Street, Coorparoo, QLD 4151 AUS. It's a great cozy little 2BR place in a suburb called Coorparoo. Now after about 2 weeks there I pronounce the name correctly MOST of the time! (It's "koopa-roo"). We're still unpacking a few things, but it's shaping up into a nice pad. The city is SWEET! Everything along the Brisbane River is gorgeous, and there is so much to do. There are a million cafes and foreign restaurants (Persian, Turkish, Thai, Indian, American BBQ, you name it). You HAVE to come visit!
Wedding planning is going well; we went and had a look at the Mt. Cotton Rainforest Garden where we're having the ceremony...oh my goodness. Unreal. With views out to the ocean and islands beyond! I'll keep you posted on more wedding stuff.
I've got to get back to work here at Fortis, but here are a few notes from my "cultural learnings" so far about Australia and Aussies...:

Canadians sound just like Americans, and they don't like being mistaken for one. At all. In a week I've mistakenly accused 2 Canadians of being American...almost happened a third time the other day but I caught myself first!
Always loudly thank the bus driver when you get off the bus.
3 weeks in Australia; 9 wild kangaroos spotted, 0 dingos.

Yeah, it was an international terrorist alert. America upped it's security at all its airports too. Liverpool airport closed. They've made 7 arrests so far. Glasgow/Paisley and London. It's all linked. One still on the run.
They had to do a controlled explosion at the RAH. Dunno if it was another car bomb or his explosive belt. The burned up guy is still there. Probably ITU. Don't fancy nursing him!! Hope GRI has burn beds when/if he gets better!!!!!!!!

I dunno why? Heard it was nice I guess.
Our street is being dug up again and our phones, electricity and water went out, so I couldn't call. I'm working this weekend off Monday, and back on Tues, Wed, Thurs. I'll try and call Mon or Fri.
Glasgow Airport was hit by a car on fire/car bomb! They think it was terrorists. Now on high alert! Possibly expecting another attack. This is just a bit too real!!! Praise Jesus, only 2 casualties reported. The terrorists themselves.
They've never hit Scotland before! Everyone loves the Scottish! It might be because we now have a Scottish Prime Minister??? I fly outa there next month!!!
