    WOODS - A TERRIBLE DAY

Tiger Woods is hoping to put a terrible fourth day and a sore knee behind him when he takes on Rocco Mediate in an 18-hole play-off to decide who will win the 108th US Open.

The world number one sunk a 12-foot putt for birdie at the 18th to move level with his fellow American at the top of the leaderboard on one-under after 72 holes.

A fifth round will now be needed on Monday to decide the winner, meaning Woods will have to put his injured knee through further pain if he is to win a 14th Major.

However, the 32-year-old was more concerned with his poor play than his physical status, admitting he was just glad to have a chance of still winning the tournament.

"I hit it terrible today, just a terrible day of ball striking," he said. "But I hung in there, scrapped around and gave myself a chance.

On the knee injury, Woods added: "It was pretty sore. I took some things to relieve that, and now here we are. At least I've got a chance."

    DECO CONFIRMS BLUES INTEREST

Portugal star Deco has confirmed Chelsea are interested in signing him but insisted he had not talked with Luiz Felipe Scolari about a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian-born playmaker has been strongly linked with The Blues for a number of years.

Jose Mourinho tried and failed to take him to Chelsea four-years ago, but now with Barcelona ready to let him leave, Scolari looks to have made the 30-year-old one of his top transfer targets.

"There is interest from Chelsea, which is normal," he told Marca.

"But Scolari has not told me anything, we are now just talking to the club."

Mourinho, now at Internazionale, is also believed to be keen to working with him again after their time together at Porto and Deco admits he has a number of options.

"Of course, there are other possibilities," he added.

    SCOLARI REMAINS UPBEAT

Luiz Felipe Scolari remains in confident mood despite a disappointing end to Portugal's Group A campaign.

The soon-to-be Chelsea boss saw his side stumble into the last eight with a lacklustre 2-0 defeat to co-hosts Switzerland.

The result mattered little to a team who had already secured top spot, and a subsequent quarter-final berth, but they would have hoped to march on with authority rather than apathy.

Swiss playmaker Hakan Yakin proved to be their undoing, grabbing a brace to ensure that Jakob Kuhn's men had something to show for a disappointing tournament on home turf.

Using the game as an opportunity to rest some of his star men, most notably Cristiano Ronaldo, Scolari gave run-outs to a number of players on the fringes of the first-team.
