even though i was not born in any of these year groups it is cool anyway.

congratulations to all the kids who were born in the
1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 60's

first, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.

they took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and did'nt get tested for diabetes.

then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints.

we had no childproff lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

as children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

we drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

we shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

we ate cakes, white bread and real butter and drank pop with sugar in it, but we weren't over weight because....

we were always outside playing!!

we would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were home when the streetlights came on.

no one was able to reach us all day. and we were ok.

we would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. after running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

we did not have playstations, nintendo,s, x-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no internet or internet chat rooms..... we had friends and we went outside and found them!

we fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

we ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

we made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

we rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

football teams had trials and not everyone made the team. those who did'nt had to deal with disappointment. imagine that!!

the idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. they actually sided with the law!

this generation has produced some of the best risk- takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

the past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

we had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

how to deal with it all!

and you are one of them!

congratulations!

you might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.

and while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.

kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

maybe we are meant to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

maybe when the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we dont see the one which has opened for us.

maybe the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

maybe it is true that we dont know what we have got until we lose it, but it is also true that we dont know what we have been missing until it arrives. giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. dont expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but if it does not, be content it grew in yours. it takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

dont go for looks; they can deceive. dont go for wealth; even that fades away. go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. find the one that makes your heart smile. there are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick your dreams and hug them for real.

dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

may you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy. always put yourself in others shoes. if you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too.

the happiest of people dont necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives.

love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear. the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you cant go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
