- I am 32 years old now!! ( I know! I still don't look it.) I have now finished my HNC in Production and Technical Theatre. I am back on dry land at last. Planning to stay away from the oceans for a bit, but not for ever. It was an amazing experience. I have now seen things, been to places and done things I could only have dreamed of before. But it is time for a wee change of scenery. I now just have to try and forge a reasonable freelance career between here and Edinburgh before my newly converted dollars run oot. Also thinking of using my time in the tourist side of entertainment to apply for techie jobs at holiday camps. Hi-de-Hi!! Either way, I'm back in the country and back in business. Looking forward to driving again too. Must get myself a car soon. It won't be a match for the last car I drove - but that was a Ferrari after all!

COMING HOME ANYTIME SOON, STU?
It would appear that you guys are missing me as much as I am missing you as lots of you have been asking when I return to sunny Scotland.
The unfortunate answer is that I don't flippin' know! My contract says March 8th, but we know that they are not worth the paper they are written on here! Most people have been doing 6 months and 1 week, which would make it March 15th. That would be perfect as I would leave with the ice cast. I don't think I want to be here for an ice cast install - I bet they really suck! However, when I asked I was given the date April 12th!!!! That cannot be right!! Not only is that wrong, but I can't really stay 'til then. Mum has booked a family Easter Holiday that starts on April 13th. I'd barely be back in time. I have them questioning the powers that be in Miami about it. It is a slow process and I probably won't know until the last minute. I'll make sure to post it as soon as I myself actually find out. My gut feeling is March 29th. That would be somewhere in the middle and would include the 3 weeks being added to all new contracts from Sep 08. But who knows. Certainly not me!!

MIAMI AND OTHER PARTS OF FLORIDA
In doing this blog realised that I have not mentioned the parts of the Sunshine State that were part of the Enchantment's run. But first Miami.
It was nice to get the chance to see more of the city than the airport. The port is close to the downtown area, so explored that. Spent most of the time doing a bit of shopping; some tourist tat, but also stocking up on snacks and drink( soft). It felt kinda strange but very cool doing my'messages' in the city that brought us Bad Boys, Scarface and, obviously, Miami Vice!!
When I got back to the ship, saw some stage staff and techs saying they were heading to South Beach. Sounds cool, so I turned round and joined them, message bag et all. Took a cab to this well cool bar called Mangoes. It had a tropical theme and all the waitresses wore various kinds of beachwear. Ordered some food which was pretty nice. Every now and then the waitresses/ bar maids would stop serving to jump on the main bar/ stage and put on a dance for us. I believe the word awesome most certainly applies here!! It was a very cool place!! Glad I turned back. On cab ride back to ship passed lots of rich people's houses, complete with yachts 'parked' outside. A night to remember.
Fort Lauderdale was a beautiful port after the greyness of San Pedro, LA . It was also easier and cheaper to get to shops and food. Found this cool wee car museum nearby (trust me, eh?) It was full of just Packards. They must have had an example of every model. There were some real beauties. Even the museum itself was nice. The building was pretty new, but had been designed to look like old barns, with high beams and wood everywhere. It was almost quaint.
Quaint was the word to describe Key West. It was like walking into an old American movie. A lot of the houses were wooden and everything looked like time had stayed still. It was a really nice place and became a bit of a fav. when on Enchantment. It was quite an expensive place, because they know it's a tourist trap, but that's OK. For a relatively young place, it has a very interesting history, which I tell you about in my quiz.0 commenti 300 giorni

FESTIVE SEASON AT SEA
This would be my first time away from home at Christmas and I certainly don't do things by half. Spent a lot of the run-up to Christmas imagining it was nowhere near. I didn't want to dwell on all the family things I was missing. Of course, we couldn't call it Christmas as that may offend. We called it Happy Holidays! Can I be offended because looking at my schedule I am clearly NOT on holiday.First year I have not been involved in a panto for about a decade. We did have a Christmas Ice Show that was nice and cheesy. Got me in the Christmas spirit nicely actually.
New Year was a bit better. Looking back at the past year brought memories of amazing things I have seen or done over the past 12 months. It has certainly not been a dull year for me! Having NewYear's lunch outside in the sun was nice too.
This month will see my anniversary with the company. I will need to compose a quiz to celebrate that fact I think.
I hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year. I will see you in 2 months-ish.

It doesn't compare in any way but I was at MPH show last week in Brum with Top Gear Live - saw F40, F430, Aston DBS, Pagani Zonda, Lambo Murcielago (amongst others!) in the metal, before enjoying Jezza and his two mates looning about as usual! Defo recommended if you ever get the chance to go! -
