LGFC vs DTHFC November 17th, Plock Court.
After having to wait two months, this was a well anticipated match for the LGFC players. Despite having eight people out including such regulars as Jay Wall and expected debutant Jay Mcquilkin, the remaining squad were up to the challenge and had the belief that they could win, with two further players making their debut – Jared Browning in goal and Tom Griffiths in midfield.
After two of our players dropping out hours before the match, leaving Longlevens with 10 people injured or away, we were left to the one bare sub. Once all 13 of LGFC (thirteen including the manager) had reached the pitch (already decided upon by the Down To Heart FC players) and completed the warm up and final tactics, the match began with LGFC on the front foot straight away. Despite having the majority of possession, there were no real scoring opportunities for Longlevens Green within the first 20 minutes, but DTHFC had a chance to snatch an unexpected lead after a quick break away, with a good run from forward Kyle having his shot narrowly miss the far post. At the other end of the pitch Amy Peart had a powerful half volley blocked yards from the lines by a brave defender. However, the score remained goalless as the game moved pitches due to a certain Down To Heart player continuously kicking the match ball into the near by brook. After the referee swiftly moved us to the next pitch along, LGFC picked up where they had left off.
Within the half an hour mark we had scored. From what started with some slick passes down the left side become a somewhat scrappy goal, with striker Brad Sansum poking the ball home. Minutes later, Brad was at it again. From what came from a dubious throw-in, he was once more on hand to burry away his and the teams second of the game. LGFC seemed happy and relaxed with this lead, but manager Lanky did not want to stop it there. He demanded more shots on goal and Ciaran Hanley answered his calls after a classic Daniel Harris smash down field rebounded to him, smashing a potentially unstoppable shot towards goal, which flew in despite DTHFC keeper Simon Pugh getting a hand to it. Ciaran seemed rather pleased with this goal and enjoyed it with a traditional celebration with his brother Sean. An event which slightly soured the match sparked off after this goal between Josh Swan of Down To Heart FC and Andy Fooks of LGFC. This lead to the first yellow card of the club with Andy Fooks being booked for unsporting behaviour and was substituted as a result for a short while. As he was taken off, Joe Weatherly took his chance with his best display for LGFC and perhaps made a point to the management after being used very little in previous games. Just before the break Brad had a good chance to grab his hat-trick after a nudged through ball by Scott Mitchell, yet failed to take the opportunity. A mention that our defence were completely dominant in our third throughout.
As the second half arose the game opened up for LGFC, with Down To Heart hardly having a touch of the ball for large periods. This pressure was then richly rewarded when a further ‘beast’ up field by Dan Harris dropped down once more to the captain for the day Ciaran Hanley to hit in. The scoring continued when Scott Mitchell snuck away from the motionless centre backs of the opposition to hit home his first of the day as it turned the midpoint of the second half. Showboating followed. From what can be described at times as perfect fluent football, players in particular such as Ben Furley, Scott Mitchell and Tom Griffiths completely showed up certain opponents with silky skills during phases. Shots continued to rain down on the break-away reliant DTHFC with Simon Pugh handling generally well between the sticks. A sixth goal came with around twenty minutes left with Bradley Sansum completing his hat trick with his finest finish of the day, lobbing the Down To Heart keeper just inside the box. A surprising appearance then happened as injured Lanky was brought7 Comments 288 weeks

August 11, Highgrove vs. LGFC, Away (late i know, but for ciaran and liam's ongoing benefit).
After a mad rush the night before, trying to get hold off as many players as possible, Manager Lanky and Coach Ciaran found themselves with an improbable line-up which included a young, inexperienced goalkeeper, and an unfamiliar striker making up the starting 10, as only that amount was available to play. As the morning of the game came, two pieces of news which brightened the situation became clear as Tom Evans, who had come back from holiday earlier in the morning, confirmed himself available, and perhaps most importantly, regular goalkeeper James McAllister (who in this case would go on to play in defence) too declared himself fit enough to play the match.
(good intro as i had done this nearly two months ago - rest is very brief and to the point as i cant remeber every exactl detail of what happened)
This game was a massive morale boost for our team after a previous two game loosing streak as we ended up winning 13-8, after having a 6-3 lead at half time. Although i am one to admit we started the match with 10 of our players against 8 of theirs, we gradually cut down to 9, and then 8 vs 8 as the game wore on; after all, was it not highgrove manager paul sterry's fault that he could not organise a team to get together?
This game brought masses of chances and plenty of goals, with gradually giving our younger and inexperienced players some well needed experience and familiarity to the game highgrove play. We did our club proud, as not only did our average age for the game reach just over 13 compared to highgroves 15, but we were without our oldest and perhaps most influential player - Jay Wall.
Well done to our lads, and as this is rather late, i can too pass on the message of good luck for our upcomming games - fixtures against mmfc, highgrove, GL1 and Down To Heart FC are to be announced fairly soon.

im not tryin to say that we're gunna win the league, im just sayin that both hucclecote and lgfc hav to play us and we cud be the team who stops one of the teams from winnin the league, like when we play lgfc yu will want us to win and its the same for lgfc when we play yu.
Not being rude boys but longsmead will finish 3rd. Either us or lgfc will win it, longsmead played really well when you played us and we were terrible aswell as having 9 players out and no goalie but when we play you again we aim to put that right and i think it will come down to the last game hucclecote v lgfc
