The last gig was a great success!! :L Birthday cakes (hope you had a good one Amy!), A super-amazing hamper (well done Shauna!) and great bands galore! And of course we made some cash for the Meningitis Research Foundation!

What,s the deelio with this West Cork gigs thing?
Well, We're five Skibbereen girls
who, infuriated by the lack of gigs in West Cork (esp for underage folk), decided to get up off our backsides and set up some gigs ourselves. Our first gig (May 6th 2006) raised over €2000 for meningitis research. We held our second on Aug 12th 2006. Our third gig took place on May 19th 2007 in Skibb. The latest one was in August 2007 with Vesta Varro as headliners...

    • The Tequila MockingBird MusicBand™ GIG


      The Tequila Mockingbird Musicband are proud to announce that they will play their only* gig of the summer on June 1st in the Venue at O'Donovan's Hotel in Clonakilty! With a few new surprises and some old favourites, this is definately a gig not to be missed!
      It will kick off at 8pm (ish) and go on well into the night (probably till round ten.) We urge you all to join us kicking off the summer in style!
      Got exams? Take a much deserved break from study and unwind with the other-worldly talents of Tequila Mockingbird!!
      Entry is free. This is an over 18s show.

      Blastspace Records, in conjunction with The Sunday World, are offering all you music hopefuls in the island of Ireland the chance of a lifetime. We are hosting 8 competitive live music events over the summer across Ireland, North, south east and west. 8 bands from each of the regions will be picked to compete at these events. The best act from each event will go forward to play it out at the ‘LA or Busk’ Finals on 13th September in Dublin.

      The winner of this nationwide competition will get an all expenses paid trip* to Los Angeles to play a showcase event for a very select audience.

      There are both underage and over 18s heats in Dublin and Cork. To find out more information on how to enter and how to get your band into one of these heats visit our bebo page! All the info is in our blog. Each gig gets a full double page spread in The Sunday World also, meaning maximum exposure!

      Just leaving you a comment to leave ya know that Machismo's debut E.P. launch party is on this coming thursday (29th) in The Pavillion, Carey's Lane.. Admission is €6 before 10pm and €8 after INCLUDING a copy of "The Swell". It's a HUGE nite for us and we're trying to fill the place so hope ye can make it along!! oh and we're being interviewed on RED FM on sunday nite between 7:45 and 8:30pm if your near a radio.
