The Bernards Bikers


I will introduce to you the Bernards bikers, a pushbike clan who could not dare to think about life without bikes. In this essay I will attempt to tell you all I know about the bikers, and even try to interview some members for their opinions on bikes, their love of riding and the scintillating feeling when a jump goes according to plan.

Gang members

The group currently consists of six full members, and one associate member. The six full members came to form a crew when they decided to meet up one gloomy April night at the recently ruined Shack, a ground for keen young bikers and skateboarders. That became the first ever meeting for the Bernards bikers. All were granted full membership by their leader, Aaron, for being present on this historic night. Strangely all the boys came from the same school, named St.Bernard’s, and so they coined the name “Bernard’s bikers” from that. The members are; Aaron, a born leader with a desire to win and an abnormally large cranium. Andrews, a skilled biker if ever there was one with an excellent ability to execute even the most challenging of jumps. While, a Bmxer with a great sense of humour and a fun personality. Conor, the first known person with vastly uncut hair ever to be good at something. Known to his friends as “Hairdo.” Hal, who possesses great expertise in jumps, and is also a keen enthusiast for biking. Also Adam, a person made for the great outdoors, with an outlandish talent to make jumps from any of the Earths elements, hence the name, “Nature boy.” There is also an associate member, Kris Telfer, but all that is known of this secretive creature is the nickname he has been given by the few who have ever seen him, Tank. The rest of the gang are still debating whether to give him a full membership as he is not a pupil at St. Bernards.

Rules and regulations of the Bernards bikers

The bikers have organised a trust with which their motto comes, “No man is bigger than his bike”. Another one of the biker’s mottos is “Live by the bike, die by the bike.” The bikers attempt their jumps in the free-hearted spirit that everyone should be given a try in life and not to lose temper or self-confidence in failing to accomplish a jump. The bikers fight for truth and justice towards fellow youngsters eager to hop on a bike and ride to his hearts content. The bikers also live by a strict “No female” policy, as the last time they encountered on of these on their travels, many of the members became overly excited. Aaron was said to be very animated on the occasion of this incident.

Jobs for the bikers

The bikers do not live a complete life of freedom as you might expect. They do all have to pitch in to help themselves get by, and all are handed specific jobs to suit their leader on their expeditions. For Aaron is the sole member of the bikers not fitted with a job, as the rest of bikers have to supply to suit his every need. Andrews’ job is the chief specifier of problems within the camp. He can spot a puncture from a mile off, and always has diagnosis and cures to prevent this grievance from becoming serious or life threatening to the bike or the owner. Hal is the practical man of the group, and anything simple, such as a worn out frame for instance, he is the man for the job. While has tactical awareness, and can think of strategies to beat opponents in the blink of an eye. Adam is a first-class puncture repairer and will remove any amount of rust from any bike, whether it is gleaming and new, or aged and out of order. Conor is the affiliate of the assemblage that keeps his fellow members bike chains sanitary and in fine state. Tank has the job of scaring off any impostors which may well come the biker’s way.

Conflict within the camp
