- “We believe in the potential of young people and the power of imagination. Through working together we will achieve great things”
Toonspeak Young People's Theatre is based in the North of Glasgow area, where we provide the young people with a series of drama activities at our drama workshops. Through these workshops we believe we can get you young people to unlock your imagination to heights never seen before.
Our productions are all devised pieces, we don't believe in casting people .. but to give everyone a chance to shine in the big stage.
Give a wee look at our website if you are wanting more information or just for a wee sneak peak at what Toonspeak does...
www.toonspeak.co.uk
and best of all we are FREE !
WARNING we cannot be held responsible for our bebo friends and no stealing our bebo photies without permission! - Fears
- we don't get enough money for our mad projects
and that young people.. don't enjoy our workshops.. - Sports
- Arts only round here. Maybe the occassional bit of dance, but nothing more than that. No Javelins allowed.
- Happiest When
- Everyone remembers their lines and don't look like they don't know where they are. When everyone turns up to what they said they would. When fantastic young people surprise us with mad plans and impressive schemes. When someone gives us funding. When the members take control.

Toonspeak Young People reach Boiling Point!
Following on from the success of Teenage Sexual Health: The Musical! Toonspeak present “Boiling Point” a dark, harrowing piece of Theatre that examines the extremes of the past and the problems our society faces in the present. This piece creates a landscape of the future – violent, imposing & brutal but sadly not altogether alien.
Heather Dick, Creative Director at Toonspeak explains: “Boiling Point” is the second production from The Studio Sessions, a project designed to put young people at the very heart of artistic decision making. This time the young people set themselves a challenge; they wanted to create a show very different from the “typical Toonspeak show”. As their director I knew what they wanted to avoid; no rag-tag bands of ghosts, no weird and fantastical lands to visit, and certainly no singing of STI symptoms… but what did that leave us with?
Our development process covered a staggering range of topics – life expectancy in North Glasgow, the cycle of poverty, the impact of anti-social behaviour, peer pressure, political extremes, holocausts and dictatorships.
As with all Toonspeak productions, Boiling Point was devised entirely by the young people of North Glasgow. Audiences will see a glimpse into the future in a society that hasn’t learnt the lessons of it’s past.
Performances will take place from in various community venues in North Glasgow from Monday 13th July to Thursday 16th July:
Monday 13th July – 6.30pm Young Possil Futures, Possil
Tuesday 14th July – 6.30pm The Disability Community, Possil
€Wednesday 15th July – 6.30pm Milton Community Centre, Milton
Thursday 16th July – 6.30pm St Paul’s Church, Blackhill
For further information or to reserve free tickets contact Toonspeak Young People's Theatre on 0141 552 0234 or info@toonspeak.co.uk
