      to all ex members of the young calvay volunteers flute band.
      over the next year leading up to our 30th aniversary,the band will be holding various events in our social club and beyond and would like our ex members to be involved.if any ex members would like to be back amoungst it or if theres any members on pulse who knows any ex members of our band you can pm myself and ill pass the email and contacts of the lads who are organising them.

    • YOUNG CALVAY VOLUNTEERS

      in 1981 five working class teenage lads decided to form a loyalist flute band.these lads came from the notorious housing estates which circled the east end of glasgow.they started practising in each others houses with meagre instruments they had collected throughout the years,they decided to call their new band The Young Calvay Volunteers flute band.the word came from a street in the barlarnark housing scheme where some of the lads lived.the rest of the name and initials of the band should be self explanatory.as the months went by and the word of this new band grew around the various parts of glasgow,people came from outside the city from places such as coatbridge and cumbernauld.as the months went by the band grew stronger and stronger and the decorum and discipline of the band became second to none.the first marches the band did were for the scottish loyalists parades in early 1982. we have now emerged to be one of the most popular bands in the country,marching and playing in places all over scotland,england and ulster.olso in the year 2000 the flutes and drums of the young calvay volunteers could be heard lamenting over the trenches of theipval in the somme battlefields,orthern france.now in 2008, when the name Y.C.V.F.B is mentioned,it is with respect and the highest regard
