- Providing the Bebo community with access to independent, expert advice from support organisations
- Información
- The Bebo Be Well centre aims to provide the Bebo community with a central source of information, support and advice on issues relating to mental health, crime, social care and well-being.
Everyone's talking about TEEN VIOLENCE and discussing how to stay safe on our streets. At Bebo we're not about one-way lectures so tell us what you think, post comments and share your experiences on the issues here or visit one of the profiles shown in the ‘Street Crime Partners’ module below.
This is the place on Bebo where you can find organisations providing specialist advice and support on their areas of expertise. Bebo Be Well will grow to include partner organisations from across the globe.
Bebo is actively seeking to extend the number of organisations participating in the Be Well centre.
Organisations interested in joining Be Well should contact Rachel O'Connell, chief safety officer, by clicking the 'Contact' link located at the bottom of every page.

Oxfam - Breakdancing mums headspin for decent healthcare
Carrying on from the hand-in of our giant, knitted petition, expectant mums have been gathering in five different countries for short flashmobs to raise awareness of the scandal that millions of women in poor countries and around the world aren't getting the healthcare they need for a safe and healthy pregnancy.
Along London's Southbank passers by were met with the unusual sight of 'pregnant' mums back-flipping their bumps.
The dancers in the video weren't really pregnant; they were professionals wearing pregnancy suits. But the idea was to say to people: "Dancing like this when you're pregnant is dangerous. But for mums in poor countries - who often give birth without access to midwives, hospitals, or medicines - pregnancy is an even bigger gamble."
Watch the video at www.bebo.com/oxfam If you like the video, why not tap your neighbour on the shoulder at work and show it to them? Or you could email it to your mum. Either way, by passing it on you'll be helping us raise awareness of the issue ahead of the UN Millennium Development Goals Summit, where world leaders will meet to discuss progress on tackling global poverty.
The Millennium Development Goal 5 pledged to reduce the number of women dying in pregnancy or childbirth by 75 per cent, but it is the Goal most off track. World leaders must ensure that the promises they made are put back on track.
Similar flashmobs also went on in Paris, Berlin, Utrecht and Canada, which you can see by browsing over to YouTube http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...
Thanks to breakdancers Rosa, Odilia and Stella, and Yami and Sunanda from Flowzaic, and thanks to Zan Barberton for filming.

cervical cancer vaccine. . hpv. .have you heard about it ?

Hi. . .I had heard of the new vaccine. . .to try to prevent cervical cancer. . it is being given to girls between aged 12-18 years old. . .it is available to older girls upon request and at a cost.
I did not know much about it and heard many discussing it. . .many in favor and signing the consent form for their daughters to get the vaccine in school when the vaccinating starts in a few weeks. Some girls aged 16 and over. . have signed consent on their own behalf. . .I was unsure about it myself as there is good and bad in most things. . .I do not really like vaccines due to the many side effects that occurr.
Well I posted on here to be a voice and make others aware that there have been reported side effects and that a health researcher has published an article in a few magazines to draw it to peoples attention. . she is concerned about the impact the vaccine will have on young woman and that they end up infertile as well as the possibility of other severe sign effects. . she researched it for two years. . and it shocked her enough to speak up. . the magazine a friend gave me with that article in is: fitness plus ( found at bp petrol station) and other stores. It is well worth reading and is powerful. . .certainly gets you thinking. .better to be fully informed before you make a serious decision that could effect your life or that of your children I reckon.
I also googled the names in the article and G. . .I have told those I know not to get the vaccine after reading that information. Put in ' gardasil ingredients" and see for yourself and make the right decision for you
polysorbate 80- an ingredient used on rats caused rapid growth of reproductive organs with defects, most became sterile, those that had babies had birth defects. there is so much more on the internet available to inform us. .on www.3news.co.nz go to articles on 7th feb 2009 and there is an article about a girl who had seizures and another case of a death 3 weeks after the third dose.
Anyway I wanted to pass on to others what someone shared with me. . it made a difference in my life and I told those I love not to get it and why. . .we could have a generation of infertile young woman unable to get pregnant and if so there may be defects. . it is not worth the risk or putting those we love at risk.
Cervical cancer is preventable. . with either no sex. . or limited partners and use of a condom etc and we are all worth taking those precautions. . .maybe if you read this and you tell 1 person or more. . and they do. . we can create a big voice and be a light that brings what is hidden out into full view for people to make an informed decision. . at the moment most only know of the benefits. . and not the severe side effects.
let your voice be heard. . .1 voice can make a difference. . many voices can shift a world in thr right direction for all that is good -

hi there guys,
i work LeVa (www.leva.co.nz) pacific mental health workforce development organisation that is hoping to appeal to young pacific people in new zealand and get them interested in a career in mental health. we plan to do this via a cool bebo site and i was wanting some help doing this.
we're planning the group page and we're wanting to call it 'the hook'. at the moment the url bebo.com/thehook is taken so we've had to go with 'thahook'.
Part of our plan to 'keep our finger on the pulse' is to do a monthly survey asking questions relevant to youth mental health. the 'group' section doesn't seem to have this capability at the moment. . or does it?
please if you could get back to me asap about this, it would be much appreciated.
cheers
