Through Stained Glass

Friendship, precious
Perceived through stained glass
Underlying currents
Unknown
Life, taken at face value.

Gazing silently
Knowing not why
Something’s wrong
Distorted
Neglected by those around it.

Reaching, calling
No reaction
Realisation dawns clear
You can only look, not touch
Through stained glass.


Conscious Thought

Freedom, not withstanding
Means nothing to those who can
Take it away from you
Without any effort at all.

Morality, the correct principals
Is always the victor
The one with the most influence
No matter how obtuse it may be.

Attractiveness, intelligence, wit
Wealth, personality, power
May mean nothing to some
But everything to others.

Love, priceless
But power on the other hand
Generates false love. Why?
People ‘love’ power.

Love, craved by everyone
Desired completely
True, all and sundry
But, unattainable by most.

I sit and think of all the mistakes I’ve made
Along the path that I have walked,
And my attempts at setting them right
Which seem mediocre to me now.

Some great, some not

Falling, Loving, Losing

Tumbling, spiraling ever downward,
Admist the swirling blackness,
Light bursts, lightning snakes across the sky,
Rain falls, tears from my eyes,


A rose, silky petals so soft,
Pinks and reds, love's first kiss,
Heaven's smile, your embrace,
Angels sing, I hear it clearly,


Utter chaos, the sound dies,
Demons and monsters, ripping flesh,
Inncocent blood spills and I tremble, will I be next?
My heart throbs, pounding now,


Where's the music? I'm mangled,
It stops shredding at my heart, I'm strong,
Nothing could compare to this, not to losing you,
Not a thousand brutal deaths.


The Reaper!

Beyond the veil of mortal sight,
he dances, watching, shining bright.
Yet in his aspect naught revealed,
too often looks hold false appeal.

For he, the one all those who live
must answer to when life forgives
its hold upon a failing heart,
shines bright and yet is wholly dark.

Upon no one his eye falls not,
he is the one whom time forgot.
Upon his face a ghastly pall,
the spider ‘waits your fatal fall.

For fall we must, that is our curse,
when heartbeats fail and turn to worse.
You have but one small chance on earth,
a lesson learned by those of worth


War

The glaring of trumpets
The cries of our lords
On great white chargers
Commanding their hordes

The weapons of old
Now gleaming pale grey
Polished and sharpened
All ready to flay

I grip on my sword
Hold my shield tight
Although night is coming
I am ready to fight

My fists they tighten
As anger grow
To cut great gaps
And let blood flow

The cries of war
Coursing through my veins
My sanity what’s left
I cannot retain

Stain the ground
With crimson marks
As swords collide
In a shower of sparks

Now night has fallen
And darkness is set
The fires within
Have withered and fled

I sit alone
All enegry spent
Wondering if
It will ever end

SYMPTOM: Feet cold and wet.
FAULT: Glass being held at incorrect angle.
ACTION: Rotate glass so that open end points toward ceiling.

SYMPTOM: Feet warm and wet.
FAULT: Improper bladder control.
ACTION: Stand next to nearest pet dog, complain about how house training has "gone to the dogs nowadays".

SYMPTOM: Pint appears unusually pale and tasteless.
FAULT: Glass empty.
ACTION: Get someone to get you another pint.

SYMPTOM: Opposite wall covered with fluorescent lights.
FAULT: You've fallen over backwards.
ACTION: Have yourself chained to bar counter.

SYMPTOM: Mouth contains fag-ends.
FAULT: You have fallen forward.
ACTION: See above.

SYMPTOM: Beer tastes tasteless, front of your shirt is wet.
FAULT: Mouth not open, or glass applied to wrong part of face.
ACTION: Retire to loo, practise in mirror.

SYMPTOM: Floor blurry.
FAULT: You're looking through bottom of empty glass.
ACTION: Get someone to get you another pint.

SYMPTOM: Floor moving.
FAULT: You are being carried out.
ACTION: Find out if you are being taken to another pub/party

SYMPTOM: Room seems unusually dark.
FAULT: Bar has closed, have yez no homes to go to
ACTION: Confirm home address with barman, grab taxi home.

SYMPTOM: Taxi's interior suddenly takes on colourful aspect and textures.
FAULT: Beer consumption has exceeded personal limitations.
ACTION: Cover mouth.

SYMPTOM: Everyone looks up to you and smiles.
FAULT: You are dancing on a table.
ACTION: Fall on somebody cushy-looking.

SYMPTOM: Hands hurts, nose hurts, mind unusually clear though.
FAULT: You have been in a fight.
ACTION: Apologise to everyone you see, just in case it was them.

SYMPTOM: Your singing sounds distorted.
FAULT: That lager is too weak.
ACTION: Have more drink until your voice improves.

SYMPTOM: Don't remember the words to song.
FAULT: Beer is just right.
ACTION: Play air guitar.

SYMPTOM: Ugly woman/man in your sights.
FAULT: Insufficient beer intake.
ACTION: Up dosage immediately.

SYMPTOM: Shins and toes hurt.
FAULT: You've been walking into things.
ACTION: Maintain dosage.
