Best Week ever....

Day 1 - Saturday 25th October 2008

I woke up about 4:15am with the light in my room on. Mum was putting some stuff in the wardrobe. If you ever had a bunk bed, and have been woken up with a light in your face, you would understand why I wasn't a happy bunny. I pulled the quilt over my head but then remembered why I was supposed to be up. DUBLIN! I was out of the bed in a second, getting ready to go. It was pretty much get up and go, buuut as always mum isn't happy until the house is tidy, even if she knows that Mike will be up and rummaging around the kitchen in a matter of hours and probably leave the cleaning up to Andrea. I decided to wait in the car, with the heater on and some SP to keep me entertained. Eventually, Mum appeared at the door and we were off. Unfortunately as we were about to leave town Mum remember we'd left the camera behind. So back we went and then we were on our way again.
Travelling at night is great, specially if you have panoramic views of cities and things along the way... and I thought it was good on the ground (More about flying at night later). Anyway, got to the airport and had a while looking around in general. The flight was at 8... so we went to queue up but at quarter past or so they said it was delayed for an hour. Back we went and Mutti had a wee kip on the chair while I watched music vids on the TV. Hehe Take Back The City came on XD
9 came quite quick and before I knew it I was on board and ready for take off. On the run way. Engines power up. We're speeding along the run way. The moment of truth... will this big chunk of metal take off or be driven straight into the buildings and roads not too far in front of us? Suddenly I feel light, I looked out the window and the trees and cars and roads and houses became smaller and smaller. Then clouds are all I could see out the window. Takes about 10 minutes before the cabin crew start serving food and drink etc. There hardly seemed a point to it because not long later we were descending again. The clouds part, and I have my first glances of the Emerald Isle. High winds make the plane shake like hell, but its so exciting and nobody seems to bothered. We seemed to be getting lower and lower but all I could see were a few isolated houses and fields. The only thoughts were "Where the hell is the runway... I dont fancy landing in a field!" Then roads and concrete appear and we kind of bounce along the runway. What a ride! The passengers towards the back start cheering as we land safely and soon the rest of the plane join in. We got out of the airport fairly quick cos we only had hand luggage. We step outside and a freezing cold wind blows the icy rain into our faces. We head over to where the buses are and see an Irish guy waiting outside his bus. He asks us if we are alright and I'm giddy listening to all these Irish accents already XD. Before long we are on the bus and heading into Dublin city centre. Don't you love crossings in other countries? Oh my god they're great in Ireland. You push a HUGE button on the side and it kinda beeps, then when its safe to cross, a lazor sound scares the life out of me and then a load of really quick beeps. I think it's to wake you up and get you going, cos its fucking scarey! lmfao. Oh and the other great bit is you can hear all the people talking, some in different languages and some with their Irish accents, its love XD Into the centre we go and there's a Muccy D's! Straight there for a drink and food. Ohh And in Ireland they have McCafes! its amazing! A cafe... in McDonalds! XD Back out and there's stop number 2... HMV! Wooo! Quick, grab Snow Patrols New Album and I'm the first English being to have it lmfao. Bit of a wonder round some more shops and get our camera charged up and then into the shopping precinct. They play YMCA and I laugh having an image of being at the top level and then seeing all the shoppers dancing to it as they are shoppi
