Relationships and Ice Cream
So a friend and I were talking and came up with a pretty interesting analogy. Relationships are like ice cream.
So, how did ice cream taste the first time you ate it? Was it to "die" for? I'm sure it was probably like centuries ago since your first bite, but I think you get the point. It was so sweet and flavorful. It made you feel so content and fulfilled. What is love at first sight then?
Do you have a favorite ice cream? Is it REALLY your favorite? When you ask someone what their favorite ice cream is, do they hesitate to tell you? Or do they have more than one? I had a favorite ice cream, it was mint chocolate chip. Noticed how I said, it "was" mint chocolate chip.
Can you really call your favorite ice cream your favorite if you haven't tried all the flavors? Do you need to sample different flavors to know that your favorite is the one for you? If your certain that you have a favorite flavor, is there only one scoop left in the tub for your mouth to savor, or is the bin full for others to sample?
Don't you notice when you eat ice cream, there's usually that after taste. Some are good and some are bad, but in reality, they all leave that film in your mouth. You learn to not eat the bad flavors because of the after math, but the good ones you dont mind getting a second taste.
Sometimes you think you love a certain flavor, until you sample another and your forever jaded. Always yearning for another taste.
With so many flavors in the world, why settle for one? Or is there one that exists just to satisfy your taste buds and no one elses? And even if it exists, have you tried it yet? Why wait around to sample the rest, when you know of one that hits your sweet tooth just right?
I loved mint chocolate chip for such a long time, but maybe it's time for me to try something new. Why not? Mint chocolate chip will always be around. Besides, I have thousands of flavors to choose from!
