His clothing was fascinating, even sensual to say the least. It was as if he were a fine painting from a history book, brought to life before her very eyes. She found herself uncomfortable with the sensations his body stirred within her.

The shirt he wore was a striking white and open down the front, exposing a solid chest of bronzed skin. His pants were tan and tight against long muscled legs. His booted feet were crossed at the ankles as he leaned carelessly against the open doorway.

Her eyes went back to the bare skin beneath his shirt and slid downward to the top of his waistline, dropping lower still, to follow what she was sure to be the well cut V of his hipbones then suddenly to the large bulge that lay between his legs.

Chamberlain realized too late her mistake. To her horror, her eyes flew back to his face and saw that he enjoyed her embarrassment with an amused look.

Her face burned crimson as she stepped back, raising a hand over her mouth, her breath catching in her throat. He was an ass. The thought of him touching her, kissing her...she trembled as a shiver ran through her body.

She quickly redirected her thoughts and stiffened her back as she glared at him. “What do you plan on doing with me?”

Dropping his arms, he stood then crossed the short distance between them.

Towering over her, Chamberlain was forced to look up but refused to back away. Her insides were like jelly as she held her ground.

He was so close she could feel the heat from his body. His face was unreadable except for a slight frown. But his eyes held a hunger she readily recognized and her heart fluttered at what he would do next.

He was inches from her as he leaned closer, his lips barely above hers as she held her breath not daring to move. But to her surprise and horror, it wasn’t a kiss she thought he wanted. Instead, he sniffed her, wrinkling his nose as if the smell of her offended him.

In an off-handed tone, he said matter-of-factly. “First thing, wench, you are going to

bathe. I will not have a servant of mine stink so badly she causes those around them to cringe.”

Appalled he had insulted and not to mention he’d just embarrassed her, she stepped back. She wanted nothing more than to smack the smirk off his much too handsome face. Her eyes flashed as she spat.

“Of course I need a bath, you idiot. Didn’t you notice that last night before you dragged me back here? I don’t need you to humiliate me simply because you’re not bright enough to notice the obvious at first glance, you rude, arrogant, jackass!”

Chamberlain couldn’t help herself, her humiliation and anger took full control. The audacity of him to be so demeaning to her was unbelievable. If he were going to put himself on a pedestal then she certainly was going to put herself on one as well.

His dark brows shot up then narrowed, as he gave her a deep frown. His smile caused her to shiver inwardly as it did not reach his eyes.

“Greetings, female,” Garin said as he moved closer to his pool. “I see there is no need for me to invite you to join me at my bath.”
