Oscar De La Hoya (born February 4, 1973) — nicknamed the Golden Boy — is a Mexican American boxer who won a gold medal for the United States Boxing Team at the Barcelona Olympic Games and is considered one of boxing's all time greats. Oscar De La Hoya became Ring Magazine's "Fighter of the Year" in 1995 and Ring Magazine's best "Pound for Pound" fighter in the world in 1997. His fights throughout his entire career have generated a total of almost half a billion dollars in sales alone. He is also the only fighter in the history of boxing to win world titles in six weight classes
During his amateur career, De La Hoya's record was 223-5 with 163 knockouts. He was the United States' top Olympic boxing hope when his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She died at age 35. On her death bed, he promised her that he would win an Olympic gold medal.

Dumb ass! de la hoya is the greatest boxer of this era well theres a new era starting but still. and the fight wasnt at lightweight numb nuts it was at light welterweight and their is nothing wrong with de la hoya going down in weight look roy jones jr another great boxer he went to heavyweight and droped back down to light heavyweight. and only a retard would diss de la hoya he has always ben a nice guy not only that he has had fights robbed from him and he was still nice about it.

de la hoya is a nob head wats he doin fitin a light weight like manny he shud fight tha normal way like hagler or calzaghe n fite in his own division (jr middle) or move up n get smashed
I dont think oscar is as badly gone as manny maid him look i think the weight drop hurt him alot. I dont he could go from BEATING cicken boy Mayweather to geting his head handed to him by manny in such a short time. Ithink the ideal fight to go out on is against Julio Ceaser chaves Jnr it makes sence Oscar at the start was the young upstart beating the great chaves Snr well past his prime so now his son can atempt to close the circle
wer all behind ya if u retire !
wasnt sad to watch really if this is to be the last time we see him in the ring remember him like we should when he beat vargas mayorga Whitaker so on thank u for the memories
do us a favour & defeat paquiao
