♂ Started in the late 1980s but came to the frontline in 1997.A lot of hard work culminated in NUIM GLB as it was named then, winning Best Society in NUI Maynooth and Best Society in a small college at BIC's awards. We currently operate under the name NUIM LGBT

UPCOMING EVENTS!
Tuesdays
Every Tuesday - Coffee Meetings! Be sure to come along to the Speakeasy (JUICEE LUCIE) between 5 and 7 for a cuppa and a random chat and a catch up of the weeks gossip. A great way to meet and potentially make friends with our oh so famous award winning committee and members, and its a great way to wind down after all the stresses of all that college work
Pride Week: From the 23rd on! Confirmed so far: Parade, Maynooths' Next Top Model, Debate, Tonie Walsh, Rocky Horror. Also DIT are having an intervarsity event in the Village on the tuesday of that week that we are hoping to attending. it's an alternative beauty paeageant and we are hoping to enter an act!
For MNTM we have some possible judges lined up, if you would like to take part please let us know!
On Tues the 31st of March we will be holding a Gay Night in the Roost. We are selling tickets (5 euro) on behalf of the organisers so hopefully it will do well. cowboy themed too.0 Comments 376 days

It was decided in a committee meeting that took place on Monday 10th November, that from Midnight, Tues 11th Nov, all comments will now be monitored as a way of preventing any offence or harm being caused to anyone who views comments posted on this bebo page.
We hope you continue posting us comments, white boards, etc.on our page. We have decided to take this action as a way to make our page as friendly an environment as possible. It also prevents any rude, annoying and questionable spam from being posted on our page, which in turn should make for a much nicer and friendlier comment section.
As your bebo monitors and society exec, we will endeavour to approve your comments and reply (if necessary) as quickly as is possible.

Referendum Is Passed
Hey Guys, as some of you may know, the GLB AGM was held last night in JH4,
As well as introductions, icebreakers, committee elections and a "bak2skul" theme, we had a referendum!
It was felt by a number of committee members that the name "Gay Lesbian and Bisexual" Society was too exclusive.
Although we are an LGBT society, it is obvious that the name doesn't reflect this. Older members will tell you how often we are asked why there isn't a "T"!
The issue had arisen in support of T-Students but has since gone on to involve those many shades of grey between Gay and Straight.
So, the members were asked to vote "yes" or "no" on a motion to change the name of the society. Results were:
No. Abstainees: 0
No. Spoils: 4
No. Yes votes: 23
No. No votes: 18
The motion was therefore passed and the name-change is to go ahead.
Names can range from the classic "LGBT" or "GBLT" to a more non-specific, acronym-free name, eg. Out In UL (University of Limerick)
Suggestions will be accepted from both members and non-members, and will no doubt go to the committee for a vote.
The Result will be posted and publicised!
