- À propos de moi
- Here goes.......
got my honours degree in accountancy, then proceeded to get nowhere for the next 12 months apart from numerous visits to the boozer and the odd game of soccer. I am now working and living in Aberdeen in the oil industry although I may not be there much longer unless I find somewhere to live as I am getting chucked out my current digs very soon.
Aberdeen is a very small town with not much to do so I am a frequent visitor in some of the local boozers which is through no fault of my own (some things never change), AND CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TEMPLE OF FIDDES IS SUPPOSED TO BE COS IT SURE AINT NO TEMPLE!!!
Have been thinking bout goin back to uni lately to do a masters/postgrad tho in what I dont have a clue, SO ANSWERS ON A POSTCARD PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 5 Levels of Drinking!!!
LEVEL 1: It's 11pm on a weeknight, you've had a few beers.
Just as you get up to leave because you have to work the next day, one
of your friends buys another round -- one of your *unemployed* friends.
Here, at level one, you think to yourself, "Oh come on, this is silly,
as long as I get seven hours of sleep, I'll be fine."
LEVEL 2: It's midnight. You've had a few more beers.
You've just spent 20 minutes arguing against the use of artificial
turf. You get up to leave again, but at level two, a little devil
appears on your shoulder. And now you're thinking, "Hey! I'm out with my
friends! What am I working for anyway? These are the good times!
Besides, as long as I get five hours of sleep, I'm cool."
LEVEL 3: 1am. You've abandoned beer for tequila.
You've just spent 20 minutes arguing FOR the use of artificial turf.
And now you're thinking, "Our waitress is the most beautiful woman I've
ever seen!"
At level three, you love the world. On the way to the bathroom, you buy
a drink for the stranger at the end of the bar just because you like his
face. You get drinking fantasies (like, "Hey fellas, if we bought our
own bar, we could live together forever. We could do it. Tommy, you
could cook."). But at level three, that devil is a little bit bigger...
and he's buying. And you're thinking, "Oh, come on, come on now. As long
as I get three hours of sleep... and a complete change of blood, I'm
cool."
LEVEL 4: 2am. And the devil is bartending.
For last call, you ordered a bottle of rum and a Coke. You ARE
artificial turf!
This time, on your way to the bathroom, you punch the stranger at the
end of the bar just because you don't like his face! And now you're
thinking, "Our busboy is the best looking man I've ever seen." You and
your friends decide to leave, right after you get thrown out, and one of
you knows an afterhours bar.
Here, at level four, you actually think to yourself, "Well... as long
as I'm only going to get a few hours sleep anyway, I may as well stay up
all night! Yeah! That'd be good for me. I don't mind going to that board
meeting looking like Keith Richards. Yeah, I'll turn that around, make
it work for me. And besides, as long as I get 31 hours sleep tomorrow,
I'm cool."
LEVEL 5: 5am.
After unsuccessfully trying to get your money back at the tattoo parlor
("But I don't even know anybody named Simon!"), you and your friends
wind up across the state line in a bar with guys who have been in prison
as recently as... that morning. It's the kind of place where even the
devil is saying, "Uh, I gotta turn in. I gotta be in Hell by nine."
At this point, you're all drinking some kind of thick blue liquor, like
something from a Klingon wedding. A waitress with fresh stitches comes
over, and you think to yourself, "Someday I'm gonna marry that girl!"
One of your friends stands up and screams, "WE'RE DRIVIN' TO VEGAS,
BABY!!!!!" -- and passes out.
You crawl outside for air, and then you hit the worst part of level 5
-- the sun. You weren't expecting that were you? You never do. You walk
out of a bar in daylight, and you see people on their way to work or
worse, jogging. And they look at you and they know. And they say, "Who's
Simon?" Let's be honest, if you're 19 and you stay up all night, it's
like a victory -- you've beat the night. But if you're over 30, then
that sun is like God's flashlight.
We all say the same prayer and then, "I swear, I will never do this
again as long as I live!" And some of us have that little addition, "and
this time, I mean it!"1 commentaire 927 jours

Sweet, when do u fly back home? Do u fly from BK?
I head to the nam tomoro. My plan is probs to travel up the coast, then cross into Laos then swing south into Cambodai and cross from there into thailand.
How u getting between chang mai and samui? Flying or bus/train? I'll prob be crossing into Laos round about that date. You planning on goign there at all?
Peace bro. Hope you've got all ur jabs etc! -
Martin CIl y a 11 semainesAlright kid, how are the thailand palns coming along? I'm in singapore now. Head to the nam on sat then up the coast me thinks!

Yeah heading there on my lonesome so wil prob be a lonely clarky for a few weeks never mind lonely planet!
Let me know your plans as they unfold and I may see u at some point soon! x -
Martin CIl y a 14 semainesCool sounds gd, chaing mai is meant to be good, make sure u hit up a ping pong show in BK! haha! Which islands u heading for? Samui is a bit overdeveloped, i only stayed there 1 night when i went last time. I didn't make it to phi phi as only 2 weeks but gonna try make it there this time. My route is still up in the air, i need to look into border crossings between, nam, cambodia, laos & thailand pus modes of transport between them all. Prob some long bus journeys ahead of me!
U put on a few pounds lately then? Must be all that cheap beer u've been sinking catchin up with u! -

Sweet, when do u fly out? If you can you should try and make it to Koh Phan-gan for a full moon party, you should be able to get the dates on google. Head to phi phi islands, it looks awesome there, that where the beach was filmed. Chang Mai in the north is meant to be good too, quieter than bangkok. If ur staying in BK, stay on or near Koh San Rd, thats where all the backpacker places are. It's nuts, full of boozers and clubs! The tubing is near Vang Vieng in northern laos, so not too far from thai border.
Are u training for a run or just doing it for the craic?
Might come back out here next year, maybe around April/May time, depending on what it's like being back home. Need to use my second visa b4 I'm 31 so still got a few years left in me yet! -
Il y a 15 semaines
Martin C
Aye? Where in Thailand you heading? I may not be too far away from you, probs doing nam, cambodia, nam again then laos then thailand or nam, laos, cambodia, thailand, still to work out an exact route yet. Nip over to laos and I'll meet u there if u want for a spot of tubing!
"People will always want to drink beer" - truer words have never been spoken!
How far have you been running so far? Our trainin schedule was a 4k run, a 6k run, a 6k run, an 8k run, a 10k run then the race 2 days later! Th eonly performing enhancing drug we were taking was GOON, it's aussie wine that comes in a box - $14 for 4 litres!
Picking strawberries to get my second year visa and also to save some cash for hitting asia then i wil be back on the road! x -

I'd enjoy the build up as much as possible cos the actual event always flies by and you end up depressed wishing you had another holiday! I can't believe i had 4 weeks off there! Good thing is i'm off for a week in two weeks so thats something to look forward to! Saw that dangermouse tshirt again yesterday. It is so awesome, almost as good as his nickname!

Wouldn't mind going down for it mate!!! Typical getting them, was hoping for a Stuttgart or Sporting but at least they'll be 2 money spinners!!
Cancun was excellent.....had a more relaxing one this time. Swam with whale sharks tho, that was good!! Hotel wasn't as good as our honeymoon but it shouldn't be anyway! You'll be counting down the days now eh?
Not been up to much since our last "rendezvous". Got a wee kitten, called her Lola - she's a bit mental....ok when she's asleep though!!!
I'll be at the leaving doo, might ask my dad to pick us up so its not a last train home effort!!
Whats gal been up to.....still questing after the holy grail....its just not been his time!! -

G'day mr wark, where you off to on hol in sep then? Hows the work situation? Still safe I hope! Aye, a very different lifestyle indeed, one free of glasgow junkies and neds which is a welcome change!
Fly out of Sydney on sep 1st to singapore, will be a very sad day both for me and for Oz. Off to asia for 6 weeks or so then back to the uk around oct time. Will get an epic session organised when i'm back in town.
10K was ran with a mere 5 training sessions, plus carrying a cough and mild cold too i may add! Will try and beak the 45min barrier in my next one! x

hey warky, just got a message from warky jr - he got on the wrong bus at t in the park and he's ended up in africa. he sent me this photo of him on a locals face
