"Murder @ Work": ordinary people whose culture and social structures changed overnight from racism and sexism to a toddling democracy.

O mnie

Ja, o mnie i jeszcze raz ja
Yvonne Eve Walus composed her first poem at the age of 4. Thirty-odd years later, she is a mathematician, a poet, a wife, a mother and a fake feminist - not necessarily in that order. During the day, she works as a business analyst, project manager and copy writer for an education company. At night, she loves reading Agatha Christie and Minette Walters, playing bridge or German board games. Sometimes she goes into seedy internet chat rooms - for research purposes only, of course. Other than that, her life is pretty mundane and sleep-deprived. Like Terry Pratchett, Yvonne believes that the world could do with more orang-utans. And dolphins. And whales. Her other likes include the colour blue, milk chocolate, cats, sleeping and scuba diving in tropical locations.

  • Who Says Crime Does Not Pay?

Echelon Press Author shortlisted for 2007 Fish Knife Award

Yvonne Eve Walus, whose “Murder @ Work” and “Murder @ a Little Bead Shop” are published by Echelon Press (www.echelonpress.com), has just received more kudos in the sphere of crime fiction: her latest work, "Salem Witch Hunts now on the Internet" has recently been short-listed for the 2007 Fish Knife Award by the Crime Writers Association (CWA) of UK.

Philip Gooden explains the CWA's enthusiasm for this new award:
“Every writer, crime or otherwise, knows there are few outlets for short stories these days. So the link-up between Fish Publishing, an independent publishing company based in County Cork, and the CWA is very good news. Fish publish short story anthologies to a high standard, both in terms of writing and production.”

The Fish Knife is part of the prestigious Dagger Awards awarded by the CWA.

In addition, Yvonne has just returned from a successful author trip to South Africa, where her book launch (Set the Table for Murder), sold out the entire stock of her South African murder mystery "Murder @ Work" (available from the publisher, amazon.com and most leading bookstores).

Yvonne was born in Poland but she grew up in South Africa, where she sets many of her murder mysteries. The prequel to “Murder @ Work” called “Murder @ Play” is in preparation to be published in 2008.

  • Set The Table For Murder

When two former war games experts and colleagues decided to realise their dreams, it had nothing to do with computer simulation exercises.

Yvonne Eve Walus started writing novels in which she murdered people she didn’t like (in “Murder @ Work”, for example, she killed her ex-boss). Meanwhile, Ninell Robinson opened Cama - a gift shop - for people she did like.

This year, the two IT professionals will work together once again to bring you a unique event: “Set The Table For Murder”.

“In essence, it will be an afternoon of murder and mystery,” says Yvonne Eve Walus, “so we’re keeping the details secret. But think treasure hunt mixed with a literary discussion, expect to have fun, and you won’t go wrong.”

“Ok, I’ll give you a hint,” adds Cama’s owner. “There will really be a table set for murder.”

Visit Cama Gift Inspiration in Mooikloof Village, Pretoria, on Saturday 10 November, 12h00-14h00 to drink good wine, discuss good books and perhaps even solve a good mystery in the process.
