Straight Out of Hogwarts!
Horton's Books & Gifts in Carrollton, GA, would fit gracefully in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The oldest bookstore in Georgia (established in 1892) with its wood floors providing an occasional creak, and the massive floor to ceiling bookshelves, will be hosting the "wizarding" community on Friday, July 20th. Feel free to come in your "wizardry" finest.
You'll need to arrive between 8:00PM and 9:00PM in order to be sorted into houses. Maps will be provided of participating locations such as Gringott's and the Shrieking Shack. Magical classes such as herbology, potions, and wand making will be given by your prefect. Points will be awarded (or deducted!) during the classes, and the House Cup will be awarded at 11:45.
Oh, and one more thing…Deputy Headmistress, Dorothy Pittman, has arranged for you to be able to purchase a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at the stroke of midnight.

Two Very Different Anniversaries
Next Tuesday, May 22, is my 23rd wedding anniversary. I was married in 1984 to my soul mate. Oh, I know that sounds corny, but it was true then, and is truer today. A second marriage for both of us, we have laughed, cried, fought, made up, and built a wonderful life together.
Sunday, May 20, will be 10 years since my brother, my only sibling, died. Although he struggled for fourteen years with heart disease, his death pierced my heart like a knife…and still does. He was six years older than I, and our relationship ran hot and cold, but he was my own flesh and blood. Whether he was stuffing me in an ottoman when I was five, and then sitting on the lid, I might add, or beating me in the Bulleit Family Golf Challenge, he was my brother…my flesh and blood and I still miss him terribly.
My husband and I spent our 13th wedding anniversary attending his funeral. This year is a milestone…ten years since he died. The pain has dulled, but will never go away.

One Writer's Accomplishments
One Writer's Accomplishments
Monday was a great day. I accomplished soooo much! Did I finally finish my long-awaited series? Or, was the editing completed on my latest manuscript? How about receiving a much-anticipated review from School Library Journal?
No, no, and…NO!
I cleaned out my closet. Yep. Probably the most uplifting experience I've had all year. I threw away clothes that Goodwill wouldn't touch. Salvation Army would've turned up their collective noses. I did find a few decent items that I either couldn't, or wouldn't wear, so they went in a bag to be given to charity.
Answer this question, if you will. What made me think that clothes I bought ten years ago (packed and moved at least four times), would STILL FIT?? Have I not looked in a mirror lately?
Anyhoo, my closet is clean. Clothes are neatly hung on color-coordinated hangers. And, I have nothing to wear.

Hi Mary,
Thanks for the comment!!! When you say Martin, do you meant Mark Martin or Martin Truex Jr? I really like Mark Martin too! He's an awesome driver and he seems like a terrific guy.
Yes, Jeff had a spot of trouble yesterday, none of which was his fault... his car was great and he had a real chance of winning, had he not been in the wrong place at the right time, or the right place at the wrong time.. or well, you know what I mean!! I was so glad that he came out of it with a good attitude. He just smiled and told Ingrid he was OK!! lol!! Can't wait to see their baby!!
It's always great to meet another NASCAR fan!! As disgusted as I get with some so-called 'fans', for the most part it's a great bunch of people!!
Enjoy your Memorial Day!
