  • All that Twitters is Gold

That's what I am. Do any of you reading this Blog post have any idea what the heck a Twitter is? And no I am not talking about what my heart does now since I got the Pacemaker. Twitter is the newest craze among online social networks.

Okay, I know, every day a new one pops up. But this one is actually kinda neat. I very much enjoy being the center of attention and this allows people to be able to pay attention to me if they choose to, and the rest can go roll in an ant hill. Okay, those of you who aren't twittering, that ant hill thing was a joke!

How does it work? Easy. You go in, set up a little bitty account and then you pick and choose who you want to follow. Yup. It is that easy. If you don't care? Don't pick them. The best part about this is that the twitterer has only 140 characters to dazzle you with their brilliance. You as the…twittee…that sounded way better than twit…can either get the update on your computer and read them all at once, or you can set up your cell phone to get the updates. You can even send your twitterings via your cell phone.

Lately several people have asked me what it is I do all day. Other than lay on the sofa eating Dove chocolates and peanut M &M's…well, why give away the secret. If you want to know, head on over to Twitter, sign up and follow me. I will make a point to keep you as update as I can. I know you are just dying to follows my twitterings.

And here is a little enticement for you to follow me. Anyone who goes over to Twitter and registers to follow my twitterings will receive a FREE PDF eBook. I will personally send you a PDF download of Yvonne Walus's Murder @ a Little Bead Shop."

  • When bad things happen to good books!

Let me start this review in a most unusual way. I met Michele Scott at the San Diego Writers Conference in February and was charmed by her easy-going and kind personality. I had a pretty good idea that I would enjoy her books, so I bought the first book in each of her series.

While at another book festival in South Carolina five days later, I met Valentine, the wonder greyhound. Being unfamiliar with particular temporary member of Regan Black's household (Regan rescues greyhounds, so it is a bit of a revolving doggie door), I made the mistake of leaving my book on the coffee table when I went upstairs to do my hair.

Visit my blog at http://www.myspace.com/karensyed for an example of when bad things happen to good books!

    And now, my review.

Nikki Sands is having a day…well, perhaps just a moment, but that one moment is changing everything for her. With one little slip, she finds herself thrown out of one situation and power-punched into another.

The entry of a very handsome man in her life is making a real mess of things and if her topsy-turvy feelings aren't enough, now she'd finding dead bodies and fighting for her own life.

Michele Scott has written a delectable tale of intrigue and betrayal in Murder Uncorked, book one in the Wine Lover's Mystery series. The characters are brilliantly and oddly portrayed, and best of all, the mystery is a real corker. I am actually looking forward to trying some of the recipes she has included.

  • Faith, Hope, and Charity

Where does it begin and where does it end?

Right now, my heart is filled with dread and sorrow. My husband keeps me posted daily on the fires burning in California as we have authors over there. I look (as briefly as I can) at the photographs and videos he shows me, with a knot in my throat and my heart racing with fear. What does this have to do with me? I live in Maryland, where it is cold and wet right now. I'll tell you what it has to do with me, and with all of us. Human life!

I read a notice that said more than 560,000 people have been displaced from their homes. Animals and trees and all sorts of other living things are being destroyed at an alarming rate.

I sit here at my desk, safe, but still rocked with grief for all of the devastation. I am not a deeply religious person, but I hold firm to my faith that we will come through this and be stronger and more caring as a race. I shudder when I hear people shrug off the horror by simply announcing that it doesn't affect them. How can it not? Are you not human? Are these not our people being destroyed and tormented by this natural disaster?

I hope each and every one of you will take a moment and say a prayer, to whatever entity you hold sacred, on behalf of your "brothers and sisters." I hope you will not just sit in your safe house and ignore the fact that a part of our history is being burned away, impossible to replace. I hope you will make an effort as a human being to ease the suffering of those who lose and are affected by this.

Charity, is a bad word to many, but to me, it is a gift. It is an act of assistance to those in need. Victims of Katrina are still in need of charity, and now those in California are in need of charity. They don't ask for it, they NEED it. So take a moment and not only consider what you can offer to those who, even though they are not less fortunate in many regards--we know many of these people have more money than most of us will ever see--but consider what money cannot replace--need our faith, hope, and charity, but what you WILL do to help them.

Faith, hope, and charity begin here, and they NEVER end!
