Mugger Dave

The momentous occasion that was the birth of Mugger Dave occurred in January 2007 within the thriving music scene that the county of Galway, (that's in Ireland folks), provides.

Mugger Dave consists of the collective energies that are Simon Noble, (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Seán Herriott, (Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals), and Niall Curran, (Drums).

Mr. Noble, bursting with original and innovative lyrics needed a band to create the art that is music. A barman at the time, he was informed of his workmate's talents with the drums (Enter Niall). Niall in turn knew a kick-ass bassist in the form of his flatmate, Seán.

The name of the band spawned from a memory of the titles given to Simon's sister's imaginary friends, ('Mugger Dave' and 'Girlie No.1)... and not from fraternising with criminals named Dave as the band name may lead some to believe.

With the pop rock trio now on first name basis, they swiftly got on with the revamping of songs previously composed by Simon who describes his lyrics as "an infectious blend of coy coyness and social satire". The intention of the band was to assault the eardrums of listeners with their catchy, feel-good melodies reminiscent of the Beatles and underlined by driving baselines merged with a heavy, no-nonsense drumbeat.

Mugger Dave have been practising, gigging and touring from day one and this is obvious in their energetic performances featuring a powerhouse rhythm section, overlaid with unique melodies and imaginative harmonies interwoven with ingenious and provocative lyrics.

Mugger Dave chose the month of November 2007 to launch '& Girly No. 1', their debut E.P., in The Cellar bar, Galway. It was well received by listeners and critics alike:

"..The sheer quality and intricacy of the music and vocals combined will keep you listening for a long time"; "The music is very good and the vocals are among the best I've heard.."-as described by the net-based 'Galway music scene'.

With a growing fan base, a live performance on TG4's popular Sile show, 2008 provided a solid progression for the band. Highlights of 2008 included performing with the IMRO 2008 Showcase tour with their song, My Life in Circles, featured on the IMRO Showcase CD which was distributed nationally with the Daily Star.

Galway's the Roisin Dubh regularly hosts Mugger Dave as the headlining act and other well-known venues that Mugger Dave has rocked out include Cork's Cyprus Avenue and Dublin's The Village.

Mugger Dave is currently waiting for the release of their upcoming album, "What's She Doing Here?" and are working long and hard to earn the respected title of a 'household name'. Expect 2009 to be the year that Mugger Dave conquered the world.
