Glasgow YSI march with Stop the war
Young Scots for Independence marched with the stop the war coalition, many political parties and movements on Saturday, 15th March to show our opposition to the illegal war in Iraq. Many members traveled from all corners of the country in opposition to this bloody war for oil.
The YSI have been opposed to the war since day one and continue to oppose it five years on, we would kindly point out that an Independent Scotland would have the powers to pull our troops out this murderous war for oil. On the subject of oil, on a day where oil trades at over $100 a barrel just think how much better put to use that would be with an Independent Scotland. It’s our oil, our country, and it’s our troops that have been sent to Iraq to slaughter hundreds of thousands of Iraqis at the request of the Labour Government in London and George Bush. It’s time, time to bring our troops back home now.
Brooke McMillan (15) who only today signed up to the YSI said: “I was really excited to go out for the first time with the YSI. I've been interested in the SNP for a couple of years now, but couldn't really get involved before, as not many young people in my area are interested in politics. I really enjoyed my first outing with them and it was particularly good hearing Nicola Sturgeon giving her speech on the war in Iraq which I will continue to oppose".
