Just on my last day in Swaziland at the moment, sayin my goodbyes to everyone!!Im in the university!
Cant believe its been like 11 orr 12 weeks or something out here!
Trip was just insane! Studied some of the most remote parts of Africa and got into some serious trouble with Elephants, Lions and buffalo especially! We camped for the 2 weeks in absolute middle of nowhere, most of the time in the complete wild. We took the odd day to go back to main towns to stock up.Every sort of big mammal was coming through our site at night and there was nobody but Ara and I around for Miles! The roads especially in Botswanna are just not even roads. Just thick thick sand about 1m or 2 deep, that u constantly get stuck on. Its alot of fun though.
Botswana and Zambia are seriously class but Zimbabwe is unreal mess at the moment! Alot worse than I thought would be. Its so bad that we were not allowed to travel far into the country at all. We got a helicopter ride over the area too and that was enough to see how bad it is! What was once a rich country is now just ridiculous poverty!
Vic falls is amazing, such a laugh there, and got to see alot of South Africa! Its really nice when ya get out of Joburg or any of the other big towns. Still alot of tension there though!
Anyways fuck it I'll tell ye all when I get back!
My flight home is in a few hours! So im sure Ill see everyone in the next week hopefully!
Looking forward to getting home! I just hope that the weather is half as nice as it is out here

Just back from an unreal trip around the Northern Cape of South Africa.
We were employed to do a sensus of the bats in the Northern Cape. It meant exploring a new cave each night identifying and capturing bats. Was so class. The thing was that these caves have never been explored before. They were in the middle of absolutely nowhere (=no water or electricity for the trip) so was full on camping!
The caves were many km deep, and some times we were crawling on our bellies through 50cm gaps 150m underground! Was seriously scary! Saw all sorts of animals in the caves. Hard to breath alot of the time but then there are about 10000 bats flying all around ur head they actually really cool ya down! But ya it was seriously cool! Never experienced anythin like it!
We then spent a good bit of time in Joburg! Nice to say Ive done it! But the time we were there, there was over 10 murders and 20 attacks or something like that (all in one small area near us). There were also like 16 rapes and a shit load of hyjackings. That place is scary!
Im heading down to do some work in Mlawula nature reserve today and then Hlane National park. Were doing some more bat work, and then capturing large vultures during the day. Its nice doing that kind of work cause it will just be very few of us (no tourists in research areas) and were surrounded by elephants, lions, buffalo, rhinos etc...as you do it. So its always exciting and scary!
The last trip of my stay in Africa includes a seriously amount of travelling. Were visiting all most all of the countries of southern Africa. We are spending time in Botswana, Zambia (vic falls), MALAWI (Cant wait), Mozambique and then back to south Africa and then Swaziland. This should be really class!

Hey guys, Just thought id add to this.
Just back from almost week in South Africa. Really really class here. Stayed in Nelspruit for a Night, nice town but a tad dangerous.Everyone has like their own personal security guard and shit and houses gettin broken inta a shit all the time..
But ya, spent most of the Week in Kruger park. Was unreal! Saw a lion kill, two female lions mauling a young buffallo 5m in front of me. I could have reached out and touched them it was insance. Had so many encounters with Lions (really really close) and met rhinos on foot, zebra, giraffe, wild god, leopard and loads of elephants. A herd of like 30-50 elephants walked out straight in front of me and the guard, little ones like 1 week old following their mothers and stuff, was so class.
Got surrounded by wild dogs and Hyenas and stuff loads of times. It was just me and a guard for the whole trip. We drove in the park like 11-12 hours a day at night and during the day working away and spotting animals so was cool that I had guide all to myself to help. Eat weird foods like Crocodile and Kudos and stuff! Really nice too!
Im just back now in swaziland and im heading to a nature reserve called Nysalya tomorrow. Its a private park so should be cool! Camping their so should be cool!
After that heading to the Northern Cape in SA. Its desert region their so looking forward to it.
Anyways, miss ye guys! Hope all is well back in Ireland
