The Community Youth Cafe Campaign is a campaign to create awareness of the benefits of Youth Cafes in Dublin North, as well as around Ireland.
It is being organised by Cllr Joe Corr of the Green Party, based in Dublin North.
We would like you to join us in raising awareness. Schools, Businesses and Individuals are all welcome to take part and any contribution is greatly appreciated.

YOUTH CAFÉ – “MARTINS SHOP” SITE RUSH
Motion: Councillor J. Corr
“That this Committee resolves that the Manager seek and provide funding from various sources to establish a Youth Café on the “Martin’s Shop” site in Rush as this is the most optimal site to run a pilot scheme in the Fingal area.”
Report:
The acquisition of the premises formerly known as “Martin’s Shop” in Rush presents the Council with an opportunity to facilitate various community activities in the town.
With specific reference to a suggested Youth Café, it is felt that this is a proposal well worth exploring. There are to date no such facilities in the county and it has often been stated that young people feel that there is a dearth of facilities catering for their particular needs. In this regard, it must be understood that statutory responsibility for Youth Services lies with V.E.C.s and not Local Authorities. While the Council may provide the facilities for such purposes, it may not access the necessary funding to enable the activities to be run.
In order to advance thinking on this matter, the Council has written to Co. Dublin V.E.C. with a request that they examine and respond on the funding opportunities for a Youth Café, if necessary as a pilot project, for Rush.

Back on Track!
At last I am over the worst of the election fatigue now. That gives me more time to focus on the Youth Café issue. I have had a lot of interest from the various communities around the North Dublin area with regard to establishing a YC for young people in their towns. I will now be posting regular updates on progress made in each of the areas. Please keep the emails and posts coming and we will respond to them and keep you posted. Election time
Bertie ruined the only lie-in I get on Sunday morning. He high tailed it up to the Aras at 8.30am and asked the Prezza to disolve the 29th Dáil.
Most of the posters are up now and we're knocking on hundreds of doors every day. At least we know that it will be over by the 24th of May.
If I don't get a chance to respond to your messages quickly, sorry. I will get around to it ASAP.
